Why do people blast their music so loudly . . . are they deaf?? email this discussion to a friend?

Ok, I know I've had my share of pumping up the volume with my favorite music, but it's never been THAT loud. Why do people have to turn up the music in their cars when they're on the road . . . or at parties where people can't even hear themselves speak? What is so appealing about damaging your ear drums like that?

I don't know.. Maybe some people relate loud music to fun.. maybe they just fell exciting listening to music in a high volume.. Maybe it make then fell better (specially if they are drunk on a party)

They have their reasons. I don't like to listening music loud. Lets wait for their comments.

I'm sure they think loud music is fun and exciting! But it's not so fun and exciting for the people who don't want to hear it . . . they must not see the rest of us covering up our ears!! Maybe it's a way to drown themselves - kind of like a drug to make them feel better! shocked

Because we enjoy our music loud. It has nothing to do with being deaf, it is just a personal preference. Yes, we realize it might be annoying to others, but we don't live our lives worrying about what others think.

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

I can understand that you enjoy loud music, but why is it a preference? I just know that it does damage your ears eventually - and then you just have to make the volumn louder and louder as your ears get more damaged. You may not worry about what others think, but would you worry that one day you may not hear so well? whistle

Some people just enjoy music better that way. When its loud, you can physically feel the music! xD
Or maybe people want to show off, or even pretend they're at a concert.

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

That is true! When the music is super loud, the vibration from it makes your body bounce around on it's own - hee hee. Yah, it could be like being at a live music event . . . I know I've been to concerts near the speakers where it's super loud. But I got ringing in my ears afterwards . . . I hated that part! shocked

I have always been a rocker at heart and always turned the volume up to elevenw00t

I think some music is just designed to be played loud, I love nothing more than going to a live gig and have my eardrums nearly bleed. The day the music gets too loud will be the day I am too oldcry

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

Well, rock on! I know I've been to some concerts and it actually hurt to have my eardrums be worked to the max . . . maybe it's a tolerance thing. I'm thinking it'll go the opposite way for people like you who love loud music . . . music will get less louder because your ears are going out! lol

myLot reputation of 95/100. thezone (2177)   ranked 1,127 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

I will be rocking till the day I die and then somew00t

I like my music loud but I would never annoy other people with it though, as I do respect my neighbors, that is why I like live gigs so much as everyone there is there for the same reason.

You have a good point there with the music getting quieter due to the ears not working as well but I will take my chancesthumbup

That is true . . . there is a time and place for loud music - and concerts are one of them! How considerate of you - hee hee! lol

I think they were fell enjoy if their favourites music is played loudly. For some people it can makes relax when drive a car, and at the party just for having fun. Maybe it can make their ears disturbed if they did it regularly. Happy mylotting

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

Oh, I'm sure they enjoy music when it's played loudly. Maybe it's relaxing to them because of the sound makes their entire body vibrate - almost like a massage - ha ha. And maybe it's fun at a party so they don't have to engage in conversations - no one can hear each other!! I have no doubt they're messing up their ears if they are doing it regularly!

I have been thinking along those lines todo with the boy racers in their cars with the music up so loud you can hear the music rather than the car coming down the road. Also people in their houses with the music up loud.I do not see the point in them doing that as i am sure it must do some damage to their ears in the end and lets face it all you can hear is the bass going boom boom boom.

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

Yah, that's true. BOOM BOOM BOOM! I particularly don't like it when it's the car next to me on the street . . . I can literally feel the boom boom boom and this is with all windows closed! It drives me nuts if people are doing it in the houses late at night - that's not being considerate to their neighbors at all!! One day they will go deaf and hear nothing!

Hello much2say

I have seen people doing it...And I think they wanted to get people's attention more than the harmony that carries with the music.Guys who do this normally keep their doors open and they make sure that the music is loud when there is a crowd.

But rarely I see decent guys doing it....

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

Yep - and isn't that a crazy way to get attention? Ok, we hear your loud music . . . ok, ok! How does it seem cool when the rest of us think it's annoying? I really don't get the ones who do it while driving . . . is the road really that boring without loud music? Decent guys don't do it because they want to preserve their hearing!! lol

I think when people pump up the volume, they just want to get immersed in music, forget all the life stuff and relieve themselvies completely.

Indeed I don't like to pump up the music too loud and being damaged on my ear drums. If the music is pumped up too loud, it'll become noise, that's really annoying.

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

Noise, that's a good word for it - ha ha! Yes, it's almost like a drug - where they can immerse themselves into the loud music and just be stress free for the moment. But it does irritate and annoy the rest of us! I like my ears too - and don't feel like damaging them!

I can remember being stoppd at a traffic light waiting for the light to cahnge and having a conversation with my passenger. All of a sudden a car pulls up nex to us with the music so loud and the bass so high their car windows were virbating, they were also rolled up and my car windowns wre also rolled uo because it was winter. Anyway we had to stopped or discussion until the light changed and the car went speeding away. angry. I think its stupid and rude. It is also unsafe because if an ambulance or fire truck was having their siren going I doubt if they could have even heard it.

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

Ah yes, I know that scenario all too well! It seems like it happens every time I am on the road - it's crazy! Sometimes the noise isn't even coming from the car next to us . . . it's the car a few cars down from us - and it's so loud that it feels like a car that should be next to us. You're right - they wouldn't be able to hear any ambulance or fire truck sirens . . . it's an accident waiting to happen!

Well, people start off normally in listening to music. It sounds normal to them, but as they listen to it in a prolonged time, their ears get damaged due to the sound waves too loud. As they grow deafer and deafer everyday, they don't realize it. They think that they are "normal". Because the soung compensates with their damaged ear when they raise the volume. As time goes by, these people become deaf and sign-language schools will gain more profits

myLot reputation of 99/100. much2say (755)   ranked 6,274 out of 9,193 in listening to music  3 months ago

Yes, that's so very true! They have to continually make the volumn louder so they can keep hearing the music as loudly as they like it (when in fact they are getting deafer by the day). Many of these loud music lovers, I'm sure, will become hard of hearing if not totally deaf someday . . . and ha ha, yes, sign language schools will benefit from it!! lol
