this is very wrong. Japan should change her policies .moreover Japanese ships shouldn't come to Aussie waters to hunt dolphins . This should change or dolphins would become extinct soon

Do they eat the Dolphins? My Japanese friends father was a whaler and they were really poor. I think when it comes to supporting the family, they don't consider lower levels of life. Sorry but I have to disagree because these are people trying to earn a lively hood. Dolphins get killed because of the cheap tuna I eat a couple times a week too. Rich and poor people are killing dolphins.

Hi Hic, my view is that a country should be allowed to slaughter things as food which it has always been a traditional practice for them to eat and it is not right for other countries to tell them what not to do regarding this.

My views aren't met by what you say so it is wrong as they are slaughtering for profit and not for traditional needs.

The killing of dolphins and whales is nearly as abhorrent to me as that of humans. These two beautiful and magnificent mammals have societies, language and customs just like us. They are intelligent and show love for their offspring, just like us. They even grieve. It's like killing innocent children, in my eyes.

It is said that the way a nation treats their animals, children and elders is a reflection of their humanity. We know now where the Japanese stand.

I mentioned how Broome is Taiji's sister city. To go off the subject a bit Taiji slaughters thousands of dolphins every year. In protest, Broome is threatening to break ties with Taiji and not be its sister city anymore.

This will be very bad publicity for Taiji and is our way of saying we won't stand for it. The slaughter methods are slow and painful and its unnecessary.

HOw do they get away with doing this? Japan should be charged a trillion dollars for doing this!

This makes me sick before you know it there will not be anymore whales or dolphins left man will wipe out another species something needs to be done

Wow this is a large number of animals to be slaughtered each year .Someone needs to do something about this .This may be in the form of sanctions from the international community or the international comunity could come up with some sort of policy with regards to the limit of the number of animals that any one country can kill.Great discussion and I hope that this will be the catalyst for change as few persons were aware of this fact .

Don't get me started, I never buy anything that is made in japanr and I think they are evil for doing that, it is not neccersary for them to slaughter these poor creatures, I'd like to slaughter therse people, it make me so angry that I am so lost for words, I am one of the people who donate to charity to save the whale fund, I am so angry.

Real hot potato this one I also agree that Dolphins and Whales should not be killed in this way. They have a hard enough time just staying alive nowadays.
I also feel the same about Sharks. I do not care for Sharks but they are there and have there for goodness knows how long and they should be more taken care of instead as well.
Sharks terrify me but I would not kill one unless I really had to but if they were to attack someone I love they would be dead in the water if I could.
But I don´t like to see any Sea creature being killed. Good topic this one Hiccup.
