Is God an Atheist? |
God obviously wouldn't worship anyone or have to believe in anything per say, does that make God an Atheist?
If so, wouldn't that mean that millions of people are worshiping an, Atheist?
Let's keep the meaning of Atheist to a minimal of not believing in any God(s) or religion. I have heard the argument that Atheist have faith that the sun will rise tomorrow but I want to keep the definition as basic as religion and God.
Does worshiping an Atheist seem wrong to anyone? Do you worship an Atheist?

1. olepmis (389) | 1 month ago | God is God. He is not an atheist. He is Almighty God that knows everything and the Creator of all things. He is to be worship and not to be called atheist. Why are you treating God like us. Atheist do not believe God. God created the sun while atheist are also created by God. Please read the Holy Bible.

3. missak (1169) | 1 month ago | Second answer (I will continue later with the first one)
God is not a human being but an abstract thing, so God does not have to believe or not believe in anything, God simply IS anything.
(I know you probably won't like this, but wait for the next one, you will love it.)
| |
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | This is good too, I am not bias like the first responder! God can be anything we want God to be, and that seems to be what most appeals to most people. As they want the God they believe in to believe the same things they do which in essence makes God very broad and abstract and anything. This is a good answer too.

| 4. robertsixy (53) | 1 month ago | Well the answer is really simple, god doesnt exists, at least the god that religions have told us doeesnt exist, i dont denny that it could be a god, but i denny the posibility that he cares for us, lets use a little analogy here. Would you mind of caring about the life of an ant? im serious, would you? I dont think so, for the size of the universe our planet is just a little ant, and of cousre there are lots of probabilities that there are billions and billions of multiverses (universe) so, would you mind? I dont think so, we only need to think a little to notice that its not possible that god exists, but thats the biggest mistake nowadays, no one criticise or question anything. And of course im atheist:) Greetings

5. suspenseful (17034) | 1 month ago | God is the SUPREME creator of all mankind and of the whole universe. HE demands our worship. HE cannot worship anyone else or another god, for that would not make HIM God but just an idol. Since there is only one GOD, if HE worshiped another, that would mean that we would have to ask HIM to pass our prayers on to HIS GOD. GOD does have HIS beliefs that HE knows when the sun will rise and set, the seasons, etc. and when things will do, and the consequences of disobedience before we know it ourselves. So if you do not want to worship GOD and want to use the atheist excuse, it will be your loss as you are trying to trick people into not worshiping God. Oh God does say that I AM THAT I AM and that to me means that HE worships HIMSELF. By the way, is not the worship of man and man's glory something like that but in a devalued view?
| |
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | It's not a trick, I think it's a really good observation on my part. I think it is a very deep philosophical and theological question. And something for us all to think about.
| |
suspenseful (17034) | 1 month ago | But you have it wrong, because you do not realize that God is not a man and God does not worship a greater God. That would be the only way to worship an atheist, so in essence the question you would ask does God worship a higher God who worships a higher God who worships an atheist? And you can add as many god's in between as you like. But God is three persons, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. God came to Earth and was conceived in the womb of the virgin Mary and born Jesus. Jesus worshiped God while HE was a human (but without sin) on Earth. Therefore that proves that God is not an atheist.
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | Ok, I am not disagreeing with your beliefs. In fact who am I to disagree with anyones beliefs? Only one thing I know for sure, no 2 believers agree on all of the same things about their God(s). I can't be wrong when I don't have anything to believe about God and so therefore I won't make any assumptions about God, I just like to ask questions.
| |
suspenseful (17034) | 1 month ago | It is always best to read the Bible, esp. the Gospels and the Epistles and see what it says about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That will give you answers and make sure that the church you visit is a Bible believing church and does not add man's rules. You also have to be careful of the true atheists who want to destroy people's faiths. They are the ones who will take advantage of your questions. Christians are more likely to lead you to the truth that there is only one GOD and the others are just man's imagination.
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | I am Macedonian and I come from the church that was first built by Paul. In fact my husband's village has a church built by Paul in it. Everyone in the village is now Atheist, including my husband because the church has gotten so twisted since then, there is no more truth in Christianity.
| |
suspenseful (17034) | 1 month ago | It is the church that is wrong, not Christianity. You have to find a church that is closer to the bible. Once you do that, then your husband and the others will no longer be atheists.

6. solared (844) | 1 month ago | That depends which God you are speaking of, if you mean the Christian God then no because Jesus does worship God.
| |
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | I think a lot of Christians will disagree with you. I think they worship Jesus as though he is God in the flesh.
| |
edxcast (355) | 1 month ago | Hey oracle just wanna add something here, i think what solared meant was tha Jesus(who is God made flesh) worships God Father as well as God Holy Spirit. As in catholicism we believe there is one God with three escences(weird way to tranlsate this sorry but hope you understand) but still remains as One.
| |
solared (844) | 1 month ago | I dunno about that, I'm not Catholic an I went to a Baptist Christian School, an I can tell you of God the Father, God the Son, an God the Holy Spirit.
Otherwise known as The Trinity.
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | Then it must be different sects that worship Jesus as God. Maybe it's the Protestants? I have always wondered why Jesus said God is his dad and then people worship him as a God. I know now that not all Christians think this, thanks for the information.
| |
solared (844) | 1 month ago | Also if God is the trinity, Father,Son an Spirit, we know Jesus worshipped God Jesus himself was Jewish.
Without trying to explain everything we know the Bible says the only way to heaven is through the son, we worship Jesus, an we know God is a jealous who says worship no other Gods, so...take it however you will.
An no I don't think I alot of Christians will disagree with me, even if they do, if you believe in the Trinity then God is not a atheist because he worships himself.
| |
solared (844) | 1 month ago | Just look in Matthew 28 19-20
Jesus says go Baptize all the nations in the name of the Father, the Son, an the Holy Ghost.
Many Apostles separate Jesus an God in their writings, John describes Jesus as the word an he was always with God.
I never read any different in any version of the Bible.
| |
edxcast (355) | 1 month ago | hey solared i think the concept is the same. The Holy Trinity consists on the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. As what oracle has said i though all christian based religion worship God as Jesus, as well as the Holy Spirit. And that is what the Trinity consists, one omnipotent God, three "escences". So if you believe in God you believe Jesus was God and the Holy Spirit was God(this assuming your catholic/christian of course).
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | I think edx is giving a better understanding for what my original thought was. But as I said, I had no idea that other Christian sects separated Jesus as just the son of God and solared you have a good point about the bible not saying anything contrary to what you have stated. Except John 1 is a little confusing.
John 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
Who is the He I put in bold?
| |
solared (844) | 1 month ago | The word is Jesus, John very much believe that Jesus was the creator of the universe.
John is the only one to be so bold as to say it, Paul, Matthew only said that Jesus said to spread the word to all the nations in the name of the Father,Son an Holy Ghost.
Also I would say that it's no difference between protestant an non protestant all versions have what Matthew and John says.
It's more of what do you believe, an how you were taught, I would say its more like 75% accept this an 35% don't, also this belief is more often found among Christians who don't read these passages, more what you call casual christians, but most of us are taught this in sunday school.
Believe me belief in the Trinity is not much of a argument at all, you wanna see a argument among Christians an Catholics then bring up the Rapture...lol
| |
solared (844) | 1 month ago | LOL that percentage is not right it's supposed to say 25% not 35%, I'm not that bad at math.
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | Haha, I figured the 35 was a typo. What Christian sects believe in the rapture? I was raised Orthodox Christian and I wasn't taught to believe this. It's the Catholics that don't believe it either. Is it all other Christians that do?
| |
solared (844) | 1 month ago | Honestly the Rapture is not believe by Catholics in general, among other Christians it's about 60% to 40% it's more common among evangelicals.
| |
missak (1169) | 1 month ago | Not much related to your discussion, but I would say I love John 1, God is presented as something abstract, at the same time nothingness and eternity, silence and word...
I think the "He" you put in bold is just a bad translation. In my spanish Bible it says "She" referring to "the word" (la palabra, which is feminine in spanish) and not to a person or a man... I think in english it should say "It". There is also much discussion about this between the scholars that analythe the old manuscripts in copte or ancient greek, and they say the original correct meaning was "the word was a god".
| |
missak (1169) | 1 month ago | By the way, here are a couple of links about all that:

oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | Thanks missak, that's really interesting that there is no gender assigned but in the English translation God is always masculine. Greek is a very difficult language to learn, I doubt I will ever be able to read it in the Greek version.
| |
solared (844) | 1 month ago | Hmm I dunno about that I would have to ask someone that speaks hebrew what translates into, also I definately would not get religious info from Wikipedia, as easy is that is to edit, many people could alot towards manipulating things in their own views.
As far as what I'm saying I'm not here to prove God exists, I'm just here to say if you are Christian then most likely you believe God is not atheist because he worships himself.
I will say one thing about John if anyone knew Jesus it was John, he spent more time with Jesus than the others, an also having Baptized Jesus gives him alot of pull, means he was definately living an teaching in the way Jesus intended.

Does that mean God believes in me too since he made me? Cuz if God believes in me and I believe in myself and I am an Atheist then something might be wrong and I don't think my existence is wrong, do you?

I have so many unanswered questions on this topic.. I know we are told this is how you have got to be, That God is LOVE, to me how can someone that is Love tell people, that if you don't serve me, but "Supposeingly Allow this Satan, that tried taking over Heaven, Which was not Killed, with his Powers, but allowed another chance to corrupt other, Supposing? To me it is all wrong. I don't think NO ONE SHOULD SCARE SOMEONE ELSE TO MAKE THEM LIKE YOU.. I don't like not having time to go to church, or can't affect the Fact of whether or not I can go to Heaven... I think it should be everyone's Right, Choice, that we should all be equal.. To Be honest, I believe I don't wanna go to Heaven, I want to Rise Above Serving Anyone... I Believe that we can All Be Equal if you Believe it.. I'm not going to to anyone.. I am not Atheist either I believe they are there, but to me, do I believe they are Right??

oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | Ragtime obviously doesn't know the difference between the belief in religion/higher power and the belief in oneself. One more reason to steer clear of believing in things that don't exist in our reality, God makes his/her believers look limited.
| |
| Ragtime99 (1) | 1 month ago | Believing in one's own existence does not cause them to be God any more than God being aware of His own existence being the reason He is God. We are what God created us to be regardless of what we believe. Our beliefs do not produce reality; only a perception of it. That which is real, is real whether our beliefs agree or disagree.
| |
| Ragtime99 (1) | 1 month ago | What you call your reality is just that....your reality, and you are welcome to it. Since life is really faith-based, it is futile for anyone to embark on the journey of convincing others of the reality or unreality of the existence of God. I don't absolutely know anything. Neither do you.

Why does it haft to be because a book said so?? I believe there is a God, I just have alot of Unanswered Questions, like why when I ask/beg him to talk to me to know he is real does he not? I am not good enough?, Is it that he is too Good for me?, Why does he want me then?, If I am not Good enough to talk to, why should I serve him. I was raised in church, I know the ins and outs.. I am like oraclemv on this one.. You know the sad thing tho, I think we are Instilled to Love him, I do maybe it is me, and I try to Love Everyone tho???

I think everyone has the right to their opinion, even if it is something that clashes against mine. Like I say about God, I think we should all be equal, I think he has the right to his opinion, shouldn't control ones being (meaning of life, death, heaven, or hell), but to be able to have an opinion. And do I as I do, accept people for whom they are, that is what I think life is about. Being able to Be and Love one's self then to share the Love with Others.

| Ragtime99 (1) | 1 month ago | Let me make it clear though, that I believe that it is quite possible for one's beliefs to be in harmony with reality. For me, evidence of God's existence is inescapable because my own reasoning cannot dismiss Him. My mind will not allow me to honestly believe that this experience we call life is some meaningless, purposeless phenomenon that originated from nothing and ends in nothingness. I just don't have enough faith to believe that. If I have the ability to conceive a purpose and then proceed to accomplish it, then I am convinced that "purpose" is real. So when I became aware of an orderly universe, I was convinced that there was an infinitely higher purpose for its design. I call that "Designer" God.
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | The God scenario does say the world started from nothing and the only sole purpose of our existence is to worship God! Sorry but I don't see how that's any better than existing so that bugs can eat us when we die.
Seksi, sound it out phonetically tand.
| |
| Ragtime99 (1) | 1 month ago | Well, that depends upon what "God scenario" you reference. My reference is the Bible. The Bible does not teach the illogical theory that "nothing produced something." It says: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Anyway, how can we creatures who are all born into a world of "things" really understand the concept of "nothing"? In my mind, the very word "nothing" is just a communication tool; It is only relative, as are all words. "Absolutes" only exist in the realm of the Creator. It is also clear to me that to many, the concept of "death" means anihilation; or a departure into a state of non-existence, leaving only our fallen carcasses to be consumed by earthly insects. The Bible says that "death" is simply a "transfer" of the human spirit (which is what we all are in essence...just like God)from the "material realm" into the "spiritual realm." Life and death are different, but they are not opposites. Life is eternal, and death doesn't change its nature. Death is simply a "doorway" into another realm of reality. so says the Bible, and so I believe.
| |
oraclemv (2499) | 1 month ago | What did God create the heavens and earth out of? NOTHING, it just poofed into existence, out of nothing. If not then believers should be able to explain the origins of the universe other than just God creating it.
| |
| Ragtime99 (1) | 1 month ago | Tand, if life is faith-based, then God is not going to simply show you everything just because you ask Him to. He makes the rules to the "game of life" and the more we "play" by them, the more He reveals Himself. The world says: Seeing is believing." God says: believing is seeing. You may or may not believe that the Bible was given to us to reveal the nature, will and purpose of the one and only true God, but I do. So if you can believe me when I respectfully say to you that the Bible does not teach the ideas that you have expressed, I would encourage you to pray and ask God to show you what is true about Him rather than to ask Him for evidence of His existence. He has already provided that evidence; look around you. God bless.
| |
| Ragtime99 (1) | 1 month ago | C'mon Oracle, you can do better than that. Believers don't have to explain anything about how God does what He does; that's why we are called "Believers." God is God. We are not! God created all "things" out of no thing; get it? He didn't create "things" out of "things." That would technically be "making" rather than "creating." The Bible says He produced all things from Himself and that we live and move and have our existence "in Him."

tandmunlimited (590) | 1 month ago | Thank you ragtime I do appericate that, because there are many questions I have thru alot of the struggles I have went thru in life. I do Believe God is real.. That isn't what I really ask anymore, it is more of why is it a must that we serve him. My husband due to good reasons don't like to go to church, or the saving thing, so it is written that we won't go to heaven, we will burn.. I am a strong believer in purpose, I believe I don't need someone to believe in to make it life, or that someone else should grovern me. I think that life should be about experiences we fact, choices, we make, the good we share with others, I don't believe I should burn over this. Expecially that it is written that he loves unconditonly that means to me No matter what you do I Love you.. How could you burn someone, shew them away, say I don't want you go somewhere else?? There is alot on this topic I don't understand
| |
| Ragtime99 (1) | 1 month ago | You know Tand, if we would only stop to consider that our Creator serves us far more than we could ever possibly serve Him, perhaps there wouldn't be such resistance. He supplies everything we humans need to live and function in this world. He even does this for those who deny His existence. When you look at all the natural beauty of the world around you and realize that it was all made by God to accomodate us, do you really think that He ever wanted anything but what is good for us? When He created us, he made us to be "little gods" in His image and likeness. He gave us limited free will. He couldn't give unlimited free will because we would have to be Him for that to even make any sense. He chooses what He wants because He is God. We must choose from the variety of choices he makes available to us. He gave us a conscience to instictively know right from wrong, and in our hearts, we know we should serve Him, but we humans are rebels. we want our own way and that is why until we submit to Him, we are lost. We were not created to alienate ourselves from Him and find our own way. He is the Author of life and we need His guidance. Please think deeply on the truth I am sharing with you and my friend, Oracle.
| |
| Ragtime99 (1) | 1 month ago | God loved us all so much that He distinguished and dignified humanity by coming and walking among us in the person of Jesus Christ.
"Ayah Aser Ayah" means in Hebrew "I will be what I will be." So don't ask how God could become a human? He is not limited to our weak perceptions of His ability.
For all who want God to "explain" the working of His power, I simply and sincerely ask: If He were to do so, do you really think that you would understand? He will not submit Himself to that which is ridiculous.
Let me reiterate that life is faith-driven. I believe the testimony of those whom I believe God gave inspiration; or divine revelation. I believe their report is true. I stake my life and eternal future on it.
