Do you keep your doors unlocked when you leave your house?

When I was in high school our house was robbed. My mom and her boyfriend were at work and my sister in I were in bed asleep. We know it was someone we knew, and probably know how it was, but it doesn't make it any less scary. They took pretty much everything we had of value, which wasn't much, and I know the feeling of betrayal and invasion stuck with us for a long time. Unfortunately, a locked door is just a minor irritation to thieves, but not a total turn off. I don't mean to scare you, but I would hate to think you have a false sense of security just because you lock your doors.

But to answer your original question... we do usually lock our doors when we leave. But if we are just running to the gas station or the post office we usually leave it unlocked. We are in what is considered a village, with less than 200 people in the town limits itself, so I guess we don't really worry about it much.

I think everyone looks first to the safety of they r house and lock everything and go inspite of that some houses r been broken through, I always makae a point to double check the locks before i go out.

I also live in a small town but I do not leave without locking my doors. I do not want to come home one day and fine someone in my house robbing me. You never know what is going to happen if you come home and someone is in your house. Some robber will just leave and others may attack you.

We lock our doors unless we're in the house... Now when it comes to the car, we keep those doors unlocked in our county, but in other counties we lock the doors quick! lol! We feel very safe in our small town, and we're very happy to be living in such a beautiful place!

I can understand your fear of keeping the doors unlocked and then being robbed, I'd definitely be afraid of staying at home alone!

We keep our doors locked when we are gone and even when we are home. We also lock them if only one is here and we are outside working. You never know who is lurking around, ready to pounce on you.

Although we keep our doors and windows securely locked, you are never safe from burglars. We have a second set of windows/storm windows which are heavy, but that didn't deter them about 7 years ago. They tried breaking into the window, but made it through our back door first. Must have been 2 working at the same time. They kicked a solid wooden door with a strong deadbolt lock off the hinges and the whole door frame was removed with their kicking! We were gone at the time, due to my daughter's surgery, so we are almost sure they knew this and waited until we didn't come back (making phone calls at 15 minute intervals without a name on our caller ID) and broke in the house and took about $6,000 worth, plus we had to buy a new door/frame, and had to have a new 6 ft. storm window made.

dear i dont know why did you ask this question because i think none of us leave our door unlocked weather we are out side or we are inside,see time is very vad so we always becareful,and leave door unlocked is foolishness,according to me its a open invitation to the robbers that plz come and rob our house,if you are doing this plz dont do this

be it small town or a metro city i think its not safe to leave the doors ajar if you are not there.i do check all the doors and windows before going out . i lock my doors even if i go to the next door neighbour's house due increased incidence of theft in my area.

I keep my doors closed too. I think it is an invasion of privacy for somebody to enter your house and help themselves to things that are not theirs.It really does not matter whether you are from a big town or small one, we should all safeguard our property.
