Should Camping Be Free

Hmmm... I don't think it's a good idea to make camping free. Who would maintain the camping site? Who would maintain the facilities like comfort rooms, tables, weeding, etc.?

I think it's good to keep a small fee for it for its maintenance. At the same time, if it's free, it'll be fully over-crowded and people cannot be controlled because no one is paid to do so, don't you think?

Your discussion confused me a bit. What do you mean by big people? Do you mean adults or something different?

As much as it would be nice for the ones camping..it wouldnt be a logical idea since it costs money to maintain campgrounds...not just as far as electricity/water etc goes but also grounds clean up, lawn cutting, keeping the bathrooms, beaches, hiking trails etc etc safe and clean and the list goes on....

No, camping should not be free.

If you're talking about those pay-to-camp parking spots, such as KOA--that's not camping, & wouldn't do anything to help anyone lose weight.

I've never paid to camp anywhere but once, & it was in a state park, & cost a pittance even I could cover (maybe as much as a fast food burger... ahem...). My friend & I had no camper, either, & had to find firewood & do all the work to get a decent quiet spot by ourselves, which is how it should be. The place wasn't really that crowded, so it was fairly easy to find a place away from people, too.

All the other times I've camped out--including in parks (national or state), I've done so for free, so taking the maintenance fees away from those places that do need it wouldn't be fair to them.

Sure, go camping, hike, lose weight, but on your own dime, if need be.
