Why does this happen?

Cause they think that affordable means out of style? My brother wears this same style so it's not that bad to me, I'm used to it. You think that's bad you should see the ones I was wearing in the early 80's....good gosh gravy.........big old honkers! LOL!

I always thought that the glasses didn't really make the person, the person makes the glasses. That being said, there are some really horrible, wouldn't look good on anybody glasses. And that is just a sad event, they want your poverty to shine on your face in the form of goofy looking glasses.

I wear glasses too and I was long a go very worried coz I was thinking people will think me as .. crippled.

Wrong. This is not a winner attitude.

Glasses, walking stick, clothes, furniture style .. all are YOUR frigging options and are supposed to be as YOU feel comfortable in or with, regardless of what others think or suggest. Do not wear short pants at a business dinner just because that is the fashion, despite you don't feel comortable.

Wear your STYLE glasses with pride and allow yourself to understand glasses as PART OF YOU, like hands or belly button. Forget fashion style,look for nose comfort and eyes comfort.

Someone else will maybe try to say something, yet they will stop in time if they see you are solid rock and can't care less of them remarks. Do not give explanations, you don't need justifications why you wear glasses or why THAT kind of glasses. Just plain wear them with pride.

Some time a go (long time) I had similar problems. I managed to sure it while I answer to any funny/rude comment about my glasses with jokes about that. People around must understand they have 2 options: accept you as you are or get lost.

And if one/some will keep trying to mock you about you wearing glasses, check him/her/them for something "wrong". Example when one will make a nasty comment about you and your glasses, say like "I better have this than to wear those 1960 shoes .. btw, is true your shoes are a heritage from your grandfather?" or something similar.

Again: all what matters is you be comfortable with yourself.

well. it depends on where you go for glasses i guess. we go to sears optical and we are usually pretty lucky because they usually have some sort of deal going on like glasses for $150 (includes everything!) we got our daughters glasses there for $70! sears has great styles.

That's why I wear contac lenses. lol
I know what you mean about glasses you can afford though.
We have insurance for eyeglasses, but if you want 100% covered glasses, you get to choose from about 6 pair of glasses. I've had to go outside of those choices for my kids and pay out of pocket.
