Does caffeine causes you not to get sleepy?

i drink caffeine anytime of the day as long as i wanted a cup. it never affects my sleep..i already have sleeping problem so drinking coffee is not a big deal. there are times i can easily doze off but sometimes no. but nothing could wake me up and alert especially if im too tired too i've never been caffeine dependent that's so i guess.
i like coffee but my consumption nowadays varies and depends on my mood.

Hi nrtan, everybody's composition is different I guess, or may be, the way I make coffee. Whatever is the case, coffee has little effect on my sleep. If anything can disturb me, it is my thoughts. And I am trying to meditate right now.:)

hi, i drink a lot of coffee when i've to study a lot, and during the night, i use it to stay active and concentrated, but if i go to bed i sleep as soon as without coffee, usually i fall asleep one or two minutes after get inside the bed, with or without coffee is the same for me. It can anly maintain active mybrain during the long nights of hard study or in some mornings that i'm so tired.

Caffeine is a stimulant so anything that contains it could possibly keep you awake.
Coffee is the obvious drink which springs to mind for most people but I think that certain types of tea contain more caffeine than coffe.

Drinking these sorts of drinks doesn't really effect me personally in terms of keeping me awake but I would think each person would react to caffeine in a different way

I think so. Such as coffee contains caffeine. So I will try to avoid drinking coffee at night because I am afraid I will be sleepless. If you have already got used to it, perhaps it doesn't work so much.

i seldom drink caffe as it taste not as good as i would like.i prefer like tea much more than caffeine,i do agree with you that caffeine always keep somebody awake,so that many people would like to drink in the morning after breakfast or with the breakfast or instead of breakfast.good luck and have a nice day.

It's a hit or a miss for me if it affects me or not. But I know too it will mess up my sleep pattern but then again so do my kids and my part time job. I only drink it to keep awake at my job, I usually work late into the evenings and normally I go to bed fairly early with my kids so it's hard to function for a night or two being up several hours later and no nap.

i really like cafein, everyday i drink 3 cups of coffe a day. if does not drink coffe, my migraine relapse

it does keep me from sleep, but what i noticed is when i have a migraine start, drinking several cups of blace coffee till i can get to my meds, helps! and my med is called cafergot, so i assume it has caffeine all i know, it works...
