Baliwag or Andok's Grilled Chicken? |
For the benefit of my International friends, Baliwag and Andoks are the two most popular sellers of Charcoal-Grilled Chicken in the Philippines.
I personally prefer "Andoks" chicken because the taste goes from skin to the bones. I love it especially together with the sauce!! So yummy!! As compared to Baliwag's chicken, they're sauce is much more preferable for me. But the chicken is not too tasty (the skin tastes good though).
To Filipino mylotters here, which do you prefer, Andoks or Baliwag? or if it's not available in your area, what is the most preferable for you?

2. dragon54u (9399) | 1 month ago | We don't have those here in the States but I like the chickens from Meijer's, a mass merchandiser that has a deli. They actually cost the same or less than a raw chicken and I try to go when they've marked them down so I get them for about $3! The flavor goes clear through the chicken and it's more tender and juicy than I can make them at home. One chicken will feed me for a week!

3. se7enthbird (2659) | 1 month ago | there are a lot of andoks here more than baliwag. so since its is accessible we buy more of andoks than of baliwag. but there is much nearer at our house its a no name ihaw ihaw so we buy that more than we buy andoks. andoks this days are pricey than the no name chickens though of course on taste its andoks than those no brands. back to the discussion i go for andoks, than baliwag. for the taste. andoks taste better than baliwags.

4. boybato (437) | 1 month ago | I have never tasted either of them. Andoks is available here in Cebu but Baliwag's isn't. Anyway, what's popular here in Cebu when it comes to grilled chicken is Sr. Pedro. It's also my favorite from all other grilled chicken. It really taste different from others. It has been the preferred chicken by local folks here and in fact, roughly speaking, more than 85% of Cebuanos choose Sr. Pedro over others.

Fulltank (975) | 1 month ago | Sr. Pedro's way of grilling the chicken is different from Andoks. The taste is good also but still nothing beats Andoks.
| |
boybato (437) | 1 month ago | Wow! Are you both from Cebu? If not, then I really thought that Sr. Pedro is only available here in Cebu. That would be great if they're already branching out the Cebu province. I've got to agree, Andok's is a little more pricey but I still have to try their grilled chicken. If it's better than Sr. Pedro, it's really worth the try.

kryptoscode (244) | 1 month ago | Yeah here in Cebu we really love Snr. Pedro's chicken than Andok's chicken. What I don't like about Andok's chicken is that it is dry not juicy as Snr. Pedro's chicken. But it really depends on the place in here we love our own.
| |
| ryesether (32) | 1 month ago | Yeah. I like Sr. San Pedro too. It has a branch near our place months ago but we moved out and the only accessible now is Andoks. The taste of Sr. San Pedro is what you call like " sarap to the bones!"
| |
boybato (437) | 1 month ago | Wow! Great to hear that. Sr. Pedro is really doing quite well but I wonder if their chicken there tastes as good here in Cebu. I would presume that it's a lot better here since it's owned by a Cebuano. Oh, by the way, though I haven't tried eating much of Andok's chicken, I can say that I love their gravy. Or maybe it's just me, I really love gravy.

6. 4mymak (1429) | 1 month ago | we have 'Kenny Roger's Roasters' and 'Nando's chicken'... most of the family members would choose Kenny Roasters because the set menu comes with a their famous, yummy muffins.. i luv them, too.. but i think the chickens at Nando's because i luv the sauce they serve with the chicken.. nowadays, Nando's has even started to sell the sauces to customers.. just like Kenny Roasters are selling their muffins separately...

yuna15 (1122) | 1 month ago | I believe Kenny Roger's is popular for roasted chicken. Yummy!! My brother in law used to work there. As for Nando's chicken I haven't heard of it yet.

7. acevivx (702) | 1 month ago | I prefer Baliwag as their sauce is much more tasty and it is in the sauce which really gives the roast chicken its taste. but i have to admit that there's little difference and I don't mind eating Andoks if there's no Baliwag around

| 9. ryesether (32) | 1 month ago | I haven't tasted Baliwag's yet so I choose Andok's. Andoks chicken is tasty and I like the skin part as well as the sauce. Its really yummy. Have you guys tried Sr. San Pedro yet? I think it tastes well too even without the sauce. I prefer Sr. San Pedro's grilled chicken if there's no Andoks. My friend says that grilled liempo in Andoks tastes yummy too. I might try it one of these days.

10. neildc (3482) | 1 month ago | Hi yuna. Just like boybato had mentioned in his response, i live in cebu and i still don't have a chance to taste baliwag and can't give comparison, but sr. pedro is most preferred by people here. Talking about andok's, if i am not mistaken, they are in business here for not so long so people much used to sr. pedro. But i also like andok's.
