Torrents

It's popular file sharing protocol. You download a torrent client (program) and then you can search for any file you want (and you'll find anything you want for sure). You can download many files at once, pause them etc. When you're downloading a file, you're uploading the part of it for the other people. It's really easy to use and it's free.

The advantage of private trackers is that they are more reliable and much faster. It won't happen that you'll be stuck at 96% for days while downloading some less popular file. Or that the file has password and you can't open it and there's lesser chance that you'll cough a virus. You can't join private tracker without invitation but I think demonoid has still free sign ups every Friday (not 100% sure). When you're on private tracker you have to work on your upload-download ratio or otherwise you'll get banned. You have to keep seeding the files you downloaded

Yeah I know. I was pretty happy a few years ago when I discovered torrents after using lousy DC++ sharing.

Yeah utorrent is great. But I need a little help with this. I don't know if it's possible within a program. Maybe you know how to do this:
Remember when you open a torrent and it ask you what part you want to download? For example you're dloading one season of your favorite show and you want to dload only one episode of a time so you check only first ep. When the download is complete, is it possible to open that same menu and check additional episode without searching for the opening torrent file? If you know what I mean...In btjunkie client you just had to click on properties.

Well the way I do it is this:-
The first episode is not the problem. So it is downloaded. Then
1)select the torrent in the client.
2)Below you will find a option named 'Files'.
3)There you can right click the episode you want to download and select 'normal priority' or 'high priority'.
Similarly if you want to stop a file from getting downloaded you follow the first two steps and then right click the episode you want to stop and select 'Don't Download'. I think this will solve your problem.

I guess so. It is hard to find the right file when there are a lot of episodes. I had a really hard time downloading the 10 seasons of FRIENDS. I had to keep on searching.

I think sagnik's suggestion is the only way to go to solve your problem. I know it's time consuming and somewhat complicated but that's just how it is or maybe there is still something we don't know about utorrent

I asked this question before I got his reply. It pretty much answered the problem

There are sites and additional programs that enable you to paste all rapidshare links and will start them automatically. They'll let you know when the new download is ready. But I don't bother with that. Torrents are superior

I wouldn't say that most torrents contain viruses. It's good to use site where you can read comments first. btjinkie is good because you can see if torrent is rated good or bad or if virus is reported and there are tons of comments under it.

I recommend mininova in finding your torrent files. It's safe and have been always satisfied of the torrent uploads

Actually earlier I never read comments but I just read seeds/peer.I think that why my mistake. I need to read comments also. But what should I do when both types are comment are present like 3-4 people saying it good torrent and other 6-7 people saying it bad torrent and recommending not to download? . Yes, mininova is great directory for working torrents. I have used it many times. Thanks and God bless

I use mininova as my main torrent file finder but I would like to find some other good sites also. I use pirate bay sometimes also.

I like to download movies but sometimes it is hard to find what I want.

As far as this discussion goes we are discussing the difference between using a torrent downloader from free torrent sites or using a site where you pay a membership fee and you get a straight download of whatever you need. These membership sites have much faster download times and have many of the hard to find movies and software, etc.

The only other problem I think you are talking about above is the formant the file is in when you download it. When you download a movie torrent especially, they can be in many different formats. It depends on the format used by the person who uploaded it in the first place. Most software files will be an executable file that will automatically run but on the movies you can get several formats unfortunately. I especially hate it when they put it in about 30 or 40 rar files.

I use mainly btjunkie cause it has best torrent rating IMO. Then I use mininova and isohunt + some other sites when I really can't find what I'm looking for

I started using utorrent cause it's easier to handle for my laptop:)
utorrent is much lighter for the memory + no addware and no suffocating network.
I dunno I liked comet too, whatever works for you

I sometimes let it run for the whole night and then check it in the morning.
