When you can't remember somebody.....

I'd just go ahead and say that, he'll understand! when I went thru school I never paid much attention to the other people in the grades ahead and behind me! I'm sure many were the same way! It was hard enough to keep up with my peers! I went to a school with about 1200 total students! Now if you were in a small town school with 100 in your whole school! Well I don't want to go there! LOL! tdemex

I used to have a bunch of pen pals, the old fashioned kind that you actually wrote letters to. When the internet was somewhat newer, I got an e-mail from the one in Brazil. Weird thing was, I didn't recognize his name at all. But we got to talking and sure enough, it was him. I don't usually blank out like that on names. If it were a school friend, I guess I'd ask people I'm still in touch with or go and check in my yearbook. Sometimes people make more of an impression on you than you do on them and vice versa. I guess that's just normal.

If you have your high school yearbook around somewhere, you might try looking in there to look at his picture to see you remember him that way. Or ask one your mutual friends on MySpace that you trust to remind you. I say one that you trust because you might not want the person knowing you couldn't remember them. I had the same situation on Facebook. I thought he had been in drama club. Nope. He was my Junior Prom date. I didn't tell him about that though. I found out through a picture a mutual friend posted with all of us tagged. So a high school picture may jog your memory.

Often face this kind of situation...easy for you its only via cyberspace. I once met this guy in a cafe once we chatted and all about what happened during our high school days and he sure knows me by name,but i just couldn't remember his name but he looks familiar. What i usually do is just talk to that person as if you also know him but avoid mentioning his name for you might get caught that you don't remember him.

hi mommyboo I have been there too and its so hard to know what to say. In this case many years back I had gone to school with this boy's older brother, so remembered him, so at least I had the last name okay,Lickingteller if you please, I have never seen that name since. those kids take take a lot of teasing growing up. I have people still that I meet and they will say you worked in the library and expect me to know their names, but during the years I worked there shelving books I only remembered them by their faces, not having heard their real names. but if someone does come up to me and tells me she worked with me, I will always remember the face, so I will say that, I am terrible with names but I do remember your face, forgive, what is your name? And I have never had a person get angry with me yet.

I'm not good at names but I can remember faces. Whenever someone approach me and I forgot his/her name I ask directly what's the name, appologize and tell that I remember him/her but not the name. Then, afterwards I will look to my networking sites and ask my friends about the person until I remember fully exactly who he/she was. I sometimes pretend I really know the person but as time pass by he too can't remember me just my face. We meet different people everyday so its an excuse if you can't remember someone you don't see everyday.

yeah i experienced that before. telling we did go to the same school and other kind of lies. LOL. it turned out it was not true. the person just want to start a conversation or something.

If it's from school, then maybe a yearbook might be helpful or asking some school friends you still keep in touch to see if they remember. For work, I guess all you can do is ask around. This kind of situation happens to me a lot since I'm not very good with names and/or faces. Sometimes, I'd forget a person's name a few minutes after they've told me what it was. Yeah, I know that's bad. I only tend to remember their names after I've heard it multiple times. I always end up pretending I know them, I mean, I don't want to hurt their feelings or anything like that. But it kind of works for me since I'm very quiet anyway. So, it's not likely I would ask the person something that would give away the fact that I have no idea who they are.

its pretty common to come accross these kind of situations.normally we have a selected group of friends with whom we are very close nd we dont forget them coz we will be in touch.but when others from our class with whom we havent spent a gud time are often to be forgotten when compared to the friends with we spent most of the time.if we r d amost happening one in ur class then every one remembers us but we cant keep track of every one who know us.have a nice day
