Civil War has broken out in the Republican Party, ~ Sarah Palin ~ Tim Pawlenty  

It's about time!!! I saw an interview with Hoffman and I liked what I heard. It's about time that people voted with their principles instead of their party. I will vote for anyone, regardless of their party, who reflects what I believe in.

Gov. Palin stated shortly after she resigned as Governor that she was supporting Conservative Candidates - Republican, Democratic or Independent. She is being true to her word - something very unusual for a politician. Then maybe she is a leader first and politician second.

There definitely is a war within the GOP and I really have no idea how it's all going to play out or which group is going to win out. I knew there was some in-fighting going on for awhile now, especially when I heard of Lindsay Graham being called a "RINO" at a town hall meeting a few weeks ago. If there's anyone I'd have never expected to see accused of being "too liberal" it would be Graham! It appears that it's the right versus the far-right. Despite the fact that some within the party leadership have endorsed the GOP nominee for the New York Congressional race, it's been pretty tough for moderate Republicans of late. The "big tent" has gotten smaller and smaller.

No Democrat has won that district in New York since the Civil War so just the fact that Bill Owens has been shown as the leader in some polls and very close in all of them is a stunner. It's interesting to note which well-known Republicans have sided with the Republican candidate and which have endorsed the third party conservative candidate Doug Hoffman. Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum and Steve Forbes are a few with Hoffman and Newt Gingrich is one supporting the Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava. I've always been under the impression that the far-right doesn't do very well in the northeast, even in a conservative district so this will be interesting. I'm sure the most conservative among myLotters will take it as a good sign for the GOP if the right-wing candidate wins this race but I'm not so sure that bodes well at all for the party in general. For all the talk of polls showing Americans are more conservative I don't think they're THAT far right. If Rick Santorum endorses someone it's a safe bet most of the voters in the country will shy away!
