Nail Salon's & Asian women speaking in their own language...does it bother you? |
|
This is one of the main reasons why I stopped going to professional nail salons(that & the fact that I am now on a tight budget...LOL). I remember when I used to go to these salon's to get my nails done & the woman that was working on my nails would suddenly start a conversation with one of the other women that worked there, then they would start laughing & continue on totally ignoring their customer. I thought this was so rude. Not only that but it would make me so nervous. How did I know that they were not discussing me, maybe making fun of me. I didn't. So did you ever feel unconfortable when you went to the nail salon? Has this ever happened to you? How did it make you feel?

RobsWife10706 (1050) | 2 months ago | Oh I stopped going to nail salons altogether. I let my own nails grow & I take care of them myself. Once in a while I will go for a manicure if & when I can afford it.

2. bounce58 (971) | 2 months ago | Sorry to but in... But, this does not only happen in nail salons, it also happens in restaurants. The other week we were in a c**nese restaurant, and the lady who came to get our order was I think in a foul mood. You can see it in her face. While she was standing there, she would suddenly talk to another girl in a foreign language. And then they both would laugh. I think it's a bit rude.

3. crys7881 (196) | 2 months ago | Oh gosh I would always get nervous when I had my nails done because it seems like no matter what nail salon you go to they do this! I remember one time I was getting my nails dona and a girl went in to get her eyebrows waxed and her eyes started to water. I'm sure mine would have too, but the workers all started making fun of her! They were going around asking each other if they needed some water and would laugh hysterically!! I felt so bad for the girl, even though she acted like she didn't care, even after she left they were still doing it! I didn't go back to that place because they was beyond rude to me! I recently found a new place that is owned by a couple and they do the nails and have a few white ladys as well and they are all super nice! It's like we are the ones paying these people they shouldn't be so rude to us!

4. muscles4me (8950) | 2 weeks ago | I no longer get my nails done at a salon. Once I went to one of the places where there were at least 5 Asian girls working at the same time and they chatted back and forth in their language and were laughing. There were only 2 of us US people getting our nails done and we just lokked at each other and rolled our eyes. I NEVER went back to the larger salons, I went where it was just one girl and she talked to me in English. Another time I had American girls do my nails but that was in the 80's, they are difficult to find now.

RobsWife10706 (1050) | 5 days ago | I know what you mean. I looked for but could not find any American women who do nails. Your right they are very hard to find. I have nothing against Asian women but I don't like how they make you feel very unconfortable when they speak in their own language & completely ignore you the customer.

RobsWife10706 (1050) | 5 days ago | Exactly. It's one thing if you don't speak the language, but when they do & speak in their own language anyways that makes me mad. I thought that you were supposed to make your customers feel comfortable so that they would want to come back. I went to three different nail salons & they were all the same. Thats why I decided to stop getting my nails done. I just didn't feel comfortable going anymore.

6. TheCatLady (1628) | 5 days ago | I get mine done by a woman who has a table in a hair salon. It's just her and she's nice. We are just starting to get to know each other.
I hate those big places with 20 girls doing nails. I went to one once for a fill when I was visiting my parents in the States.
We have problems were I live with Russians talking to each other in their native language while working. It's so annoying. I don't know if they are taking about me, about important work stuff that can't wait a few minutes or something private. I wish they would stop. I feel invisible when they do it.

7. ladym33 (5545) | 4 days ago | Yes, That has happened to me. It was kind of strange and it made me feel really uncomfortable because I could not understand them and they kept laughing and stuff, how do I know that they were not laughing at me. Plus I think I would have felt more comfortable if I was included in the conversation and treated like I am an actual human being instead of a couple of feet they were working on.
