If there was any legal bar to their marriage, it would have been that Barack Sr. was already married to a woman in Kenya when he "married" Barack Jr's mother.

I think Muslim are allowed to have more than one wife, it is also in the Torah, first 6 books of the bible I believe. It's a very old practice and legal in Utah, USA. Isn't that amazing that people still believe and do what the bible people did?

Polygamy has never been legal in Utah. It was legal in the territory, but banning it was one of the conditions of Utah becoming a state... along with women's suffrage.

No one in the US is allowed to commit polygamy, regardless of their religion or country of origin - not if they want to be married in the US to a US citizen. Although Obama Sr's first wife said she gave him permission to marry another wife in the US, when you apply for a marriage license in this country it does not ask if your wife says it's okay for you to marry another wife. It asks if you are eligible for marriage which means not being currently married and providing proof of the dissolution of any prior marriage if applicable.

If the research I've read is correct, they never lived in the same house. And perhaps, Barack Obama was ashamed to admit this. But that only makes me wonder what else he'd not like to admit.
