I have heard of adding some strange things to cakes but years ago when I worked in an office a lady brought in a really moist devils food cake. Her secret was a simple box of devils food cake and the eggs of coure but she added a can of sauerkraut! Have you ever heard of this or tried it. Another one is a diet soda cake. It is just a can of diet soda and one egg white. Well I tried this last year with a cinnamon cake mix, a can of diet ginger ale and the egg white and it was pretty darn good. if you try this one only fill the cake pans half wat because it really rises and is very light.

muscles4me (8434) | 4 weeks ago | Well the sauerkraut broke down after being mixed with the electric mixer and it more or less made the cake moist, I could not taste the sauerkraut at all. It just looked like a regulat devls food cake.

2. much2say (605) | 4 weeks ago | I've heard of the soda, but never sauerkraut! I love sauerkraut, but I can't imagine what it does to a cake!! I made a cake once from a recipe that called for a lot of mayonaise - and I thought that was pretty weird. But my in-laws loved it - and said it was really moist (and they are really picky about their desserts!). I made it for them but I couldn't eat it . . . it just weirded me out that there was mayo in the cake (even though I made it - ha ha).

You think that is weird I knew someone once who used to make a cake using mayonnaise!! It was very delicious I must say but I didn't ask for the recipe because I thought it would probably be more fattening than the regualr ones I make!!

muscles4me (8434) | 4 weeks ago | I know; mayo is loaded with fat and calories. You should try the diet soda cake. One egg white and 12oz of diet soda. Bake according to box times but the cake really rises so just fill the cake pans half way.

Its suppose to rain all day so if I get to the stroe early before the rain I will have a good rainy day project. BUT, I am a terrible cake icer. I can never get the icing on right even if it is already made icing.

There is actually a Coca cola cake recipe that his actually quite popular. I have never tried to make nor have I tasted it but from what I have heard it is an amazingly tasty moist and delicious cake, I have been wanting to give it a try, I will make it eventually.
