when i'm watching tv my boyfriend always starts talking bout the place it's set in or somewhere near there he's been,or the cars on set,why does he do this,it's so intensely annoying, when we watch Doc Martin for instance, through the whole program he'l be chatting about what's just round the corner from the shop or doctors surgery,or what a lovely place it is and how he wants to visit there again,or how the dog in it is so well trained, blah blah blah, most or the time i don't even answer him,but he still hasn't got the message,,,,,,,does your other half do this,or is it only me that's with someone intensely annoying

Mine never stops talking from the minute he wakes up until he falls asleep at night. Yes, it is extremely annoying! I think men are more the visual types, at least mine is. He can watch some mindless action movie and as long as things are exploding or cars are racing at breakneck speeds he is happy as a clam. But he gets bored and distracted as soon as dialog is involved. It's just a guy thing.

Well i think you should not react to his stories. it will give him ahint that you are not listening and does not care a bit. I only hope he wont get angry at you. LOL

Hi triple jazzm: i'm not sure that this will help. At least this don't work in my own experience. When a person don't know about this attitude usually keep talking thinking that you're not paying attention and that he needs to talk over and over again what he's saying and that's not funny. Lol.

Oh my gosh that is so funny!! Not to you I know, but reading it...it just sounds hilarious! Nope my boyfriend doesn't do that, and honestly if he did I would have to tell him to shut-up! That would drive me bonkers. Try to tell your boyfriend that it is distracting when your trying to pay attention to a show.

Ha ha I do a similar thing while watching movies. I almost always have a comment about everything or I tend to be confused and ask a million questions. But my friends and family have to remind me to just shut up and watch the movie- because I honestly don't try to blather on and ruin the movie for other people - it's just something I do! So your boyfriend probably doesn't know that he's doing it, and definitely doesn't know that it bothers you. You should remind him, and I'm sure he'll get the jist.

I think your boyfriend is excited to share what he thinks of the story and the setting, so, he couldn't keep to himself and let you know what on his mind.
My hubby and I seldom do that, but if yes, we are only guessing what will happen next and amaze with our ability to think
or sometimes, when we will only talk about it later whenever there is a commercial break.
Anyway, have you told your boyfriend 'nicely' that you are trying to concentrate watching the show? I know it can be difficult because you guys could end up quarreling over some small matter. I hope he will understand. Good luck!

Owh, that will be harder! So, you have two options now either you just ignore his conversations OR when he is watching his favorite show, just talk to him until he tells you to stop, then you can bring up the matter to him. Well, it's not like you are taking some revenge on him, but it is just making him see the whole picture.

My husband and I talk a little bit here and there making certain comments about the show, and as long as it is just comments neither of us mind that much but if one of us wants to have an actual discussion over something we will wait till commercial or since we use DVR a lot my husband will pause the show while we discuss it for a few mintes so we don't miss anything.

LOL..I am usually the one talking during the television time and yea it drives my husband crazy so much that there are times I know he isn't paying attention so I will say stupid or kinky stuff to be sure that he is still paying attention to me. Half the time he really was listening but I still like to nag him about mot listening.
As for him talking while I watch television, he also does the same thing but I am smart because I record all of my shows and normally watch them during the day while he is at work or late evening when he is in on his computer. I too find it very annoying but I still continue to do it to him.

It really annoys me too, but I have to admit, I have been guilty of this. Sometimes I think what I have to say is so important that it cannot possibly wait for a commercial. I have been getting better at it though.

Hi doormouse: i know how annoying is this! but i thought it was just a girl's problem- sorry for this comment but it's generally girls who talk while people watch tv. It's very annoying and sometimes they keep talking even if you ignore their comments. I can't deal with this so i shout STOP TALKING I'M TRYING TO CONCENTRATE ME. But this doesn't work, the usual answer is don't be rude! It's impossible to watch tv with you, you're so rude! I just wanna discuss what we're watching. This discussion will never end
