Kroger Plus Card email this discussion to a friend?

What do you think about the Kroger Plus Card? Do you not mind the card scanning process and think the whole savings concept is a plus, or do you think Kroger should replace the savings card with a better way to save?

My thought is to replace the card id concept with fingerprints. That way, we will never have to worry about losing our cards, or which phone number is associated with the account.:)

OK, we do't have Krogers in my area, but we have a grocery store chain called Rainbow Foods & they just started a loyalty program that sounds.. really similar. They give you a Roundy's Reward Card - and you can either scan it every time you buy something there or punch in your phone number at the register. I don't really like having to carry around an extra card all the time, because I already have so many different cards in my wallet. It's not too hard to keep track of, though. I would prefer it if they had some kind of barcode-thing to put on your keychain. I like those much better than cards that we have to put in our wallet. As far as the phone number thing goes, my only real issue is that I realized later that a couple of times I had mistakenly put the wrong phone number in it - and so I didn't get credited for my purchases. For example, I punched in "1727" for the last 4 digits of my phone number, when my phone number is actually "1724". So I made a typo. lol. And of course it would have to be on the day where I spent $120 in groceries. sad.

I don't think I like your fingerprint idea, though. Because if you think about it - what if there's more than one person in your household using the card or the phone number? For security reasons, at my last tanning salon, they had us scan our fingers (also to make sure that no one else was using our packages), and it was always a hassle - because it would never correctly read your thumbprint. It would take 3-4 times just for the dumb machines to read it. lol. So I think you're thinking on the right track here, but I don't know how good fingerprints would be in this situation. Ha. But something else would be better, anyway.

Anyway.. Welcome to MyLot by the way!
