Of course I never thought that today's lack of jobs might make it harder for employers to sift through, I expect the get hundreds of applicants. That must've been hard waiting all that time and not getting the job, being called back so many times does seem encouraging. I will be back to let you all know

I remember your discussion and was impressed with the qualifications you have. That puts me off a bit because I know there are many people out there with certificates in cleaning and they are still finding it hard to get a job.
I applied for an office job last week and was immediately placed on a short list, but I hadn't done anything I've often thought of checking places out a day or so before the interview, just to shed a little light on the staff etc.
I've never thought of being over-dressed though... I guess things just aren't the way they used to be. sigh* Thanks Tony

I was a bit tongue-tied on the phone actually lol, because I wasn't expecting the call. I've done so many follow up calls on jobs I've applied for before, but never expected to recieve one. I hope you don't give up hope... I've been looking for work since I came off incapacity benefit in July 2007... keep plugging away, something should come up sooner or later...sooner I hope in my case, as I'm not getting any younger.

I am actually getting butterflies thinking about it! something I haven't experienced since I was a school-leaver at an interview. Being told you have a big chance is encouraging too, I'd rather that than nothing. Did you get that particular job?

In my recent unemployment situation I have only had 1 interview, which was last September... only 1, in 2 years, but before I became ill and the job market was better I never failed an interview and always secured the position I was after. Things are so different now.
I had hoped to do a little private job, but when I asked the person in question about it, they had changed their mind. Something will turn up soon.. tomorrow hopefully.

She will come up with a discussion called...''How did you felt when you got failed from your job interview''.....

You know how things have been for me the last couple of days and it couldn't have come at a worse time, but having said that things are on the mend and I'm smiling again. All I need now is that interview to go smoothly tomorrow and get the result I'm after. It certainly is unfair for employers to keep people waiting as long as they did in that previous response.. a whole month! I wouldn't hold my breath, but I do understand if they have a high volume of applicants, they need to deliberate over the best candidate for the job.
I think it's probable that they might find that one person they think is right for the job, but they would have to continue with the other intervews or they's all be shouting "Discrimination" lol
Being in the right place at the right time is definatley fate, and I am a great believer that it's not what you know...but who you know that can land you a job too. That job sounded perfect for you MysD.. as is the one you have now, with those great people skills

I'm sure all those good vibes came my way, as my interview went well! There were 3 people in the interview room! and I'm to send them a copy of my disclosure, I wasn't expecting that so hope it won't go against me. They seemed impressed when I asked about working toward an NVQ and that I had completed a couple of courses and a 6 week follow up of unpaid employment. I should hear within 2 weeks, so no immediate response.

It sounds like it went really well, so I am very happy for you. We will keep on being positive, and in two weeks or less we will be able to celebrate the news of your new job!

PA: it's like a background check, a disclosure is a lighter one, but an enhanced disclosure digs a bit deeper over a longer period. I have one and must scan it when I get my PC back... give all my friends a laugh! I just hope these potential employers will find it funny too I must send you all my resumè/C.V. too maybe you can give me a few tips.

Thanks for enlightening me, Alice. In the US, they do their own background check, so we don't have to do anything, except maybe have our picture taken or give them our fingerprints. I was rather good at resumè writting, so I wouldn't mind looking over yours and seeing if I can give you any pointers. On the other hand, they may not do it the same on the other side of the ocean, so I might not be of any assistance. It would still be interesting to see if the format is the same, though.

My sister and best friend used to read over everything I did and edit it before I submitted anything. Unfortunately, I lost them both, so now I am left to my own devices when it comes to writing, especially when it comes to professional documents.

That would be great PA hon who knows maybe a little international twist would work wonders! will get onto that right away. That's so sad about your sister and friend hugs*

That's so true MysD, I was brought right back down to earth whith PA's sad news and from another comment I read. It's good to have fun with friends, but it touches us in reality when we share their sad news. It's good to have one another to support and help.

They are conducting interviews for college students in college now? wow! things really are changing. I wish it were compulsory to be told at least within a week, but I will keep up the job search as I am not as confident in the prospects as I am in myself.
