I think the key lies in whether we can change the envy into another element, such as challenge or motivation. The fool like to be jealous of others' fame and achievements but do nothing to improve themselves, while the intellectual draw experience from others' instances to improve themselves. Sometimes, we are confused by envy and admire, anyway, they are not black and white that we can discriminate clearly. It depends on everybody's control of it, in all.
