Dogs barking grr!! |
|
What do you think of the neighbors who put their dogs out on a chain, than lets them bark non stop? I have a neighbor who is doing this first thing in the morning and really late at night. Thankfully it isn't all night long. But it gets reall annoying to say the least. What would you do if you had a neighbor like this?

People shouldn't do that for all day and just ignore their dogs. Dogs are companion animals and they want to interact with their owners. I feel sorry for that dog. I wonder if your humane society can help you with this because it sounds like the dog is being mistreated.

12. dorannmwin (1741) | 4 weeks ago | The majority of the people in our neighborhood have dogs, but thankfully, none of them are constant barkers and I only know of one that is kept chained up. If there was a dog that barked all the time, I would call animal control so that they could at least investigate the complaint and have it on record. Just after we moved into our home I had to call animal control on a neighbor because they had their dog locked in the car on a hot day. They didn't take the dog, but they do have a record of the incident. Needless to say, I've not seen the dog locked in the car since then.

13. NoirAngelique (223) | 4 weeks ago | Barking dogs is one of my biggest pet peeves. It really drives me crazy, and not just because of the noise, but because why is the dog barking? Maybe it's tangled up or out of water, hungry or lonely. Maybe there's an intruder in it's territory. Ignoring the dog barking is just wrong, for the dog's sake and the neighbors' sanity.
That being said, I have a dog and unfortunately my situation requires he be on a chain. I am still in a FEMA camper and I cannot fence my yard until it is regraded. And I'm not spending any money on that until my house repairs are completed. The camper is right by the street, only a little over 10' from it. I can't let him out to go to the bathroom because he'll go in the street. So he's on a 10' chain for that time. He's a great big baby, I call him my hot house flower....if it's too hot or too cold, he wants in. But he is surely not lacking for human companionship. I spend loads of time teaching him tricks, brushing him, and playing with him. I talk to him all day long. He sleeps with me, too. I detest putting him on that chain at all ever, but it's to keep him safe. As soon as he gets one bark out of his mouth, I'm there to see what he wants. I never put him out when I get in the shower, either, in case he barks. I will be so happy to get back in my house, both for me and for him. Then he'll have lots of room to run around. And before I even think about furniture, the back yard is getting fixed so he can go out and run freely and never see a chain again.
One of my neighbors who has moved away put their dogs out and left them there. I could see they were tied to a tree at the back of the yard. They barked constantly, day and night. Obviously, they could hear them, so why they didn't tend to their dogs is beyond me. Besides driving me crazy, I felt so bad for the dogs. I went one day and put a note in their door telling them if they didn't start taking care of their dogs and bring them in so they didn't bark all the time, I would be calling animal control. They didn't and I did. The dogs disappeared and soon after there was a puppy. It shrieked all day and night. Here we go again. Called animal control and that puppy disappeared. It happened one more time after that and then they got evicted and were gone. I couldn't be happier!

14. angelajoy (957) | 4 weeks ago | I hate barking dogs in the neighborhood, especially when it's already late in the night and most people are already sleeping. The owners of the dog should at least try to make their dog quiet, but lots of people don't bother to do this. They just let their dogs bark all night. How annoying!

16. neelianoscet (1838) | 4 weeks ago | That is a very annoying scenes especially if you are going to heard it every night it would makes me not sleep. And you know when i fell annoy i could even shout or either throw little stones just to keep the dog mouth quiet. The better way fro me is to talk with the neighbor to let their have a comfortable dog house and if they have fence then they do not need to tied the dogs if the dog is kind he could roam freely. As a dog who always bark are either feel restless as may feel hungry or afraid or may be in pain. So the owner need to gives the dog attention and care to make him happy to his surrounding.

17. EnglishTeaDuck (725) | 4 weeks ago | I'd bark if I was chained up in a yard, so I feel for the dogs!
But I have to agree, it would drive me mad. I don't ever want to be the sort of neighbor who complains unless its over something really serious and persistent, as its obviously best to live in peace with your neighbors as far as possible, but it depends on how much it is happening, and how mad it is driving you I suppose!
I do feel for you though, as I have neighbors who constantly play loud thumping music with really heavy bass, so you hear it vibrating through the walls and floor (we're in an apartment building!)

19. cloudwatcher (3252) | 4 weeks ago | Our neighbour has THREE large dogs who literally attack the fence, coupled with loud, non-stop barking, whenever we go outside the house. They snarl and snap and growl and bark.
Not any more!
We bought a small spray gun and some citronella. Dogs detest the citronella smell, but it won't harm them at all, even if it gets in their eyes. They go almost berserk trying to get the smell off them once they are sprayed. After a few "hits" they no longer attack. They don't even bark from a distance anymore.
I don't know if the chained dog would be close enough to spray. If it is sprayed when barking each time it barks, it would get the message, and would soon stop barking.
