| king4aday (235) | 4 weeks ago | I just got the PDF of the 5 books from a friend. I have read the first 4 books and half way through the 5th. I really like the book rather than the book. Spoiler alert. There are lot of characters in the series than are not in the books. Elena's sibling is suppose to be a 4 year old girl. Matt is not suppose to be related to Vicky. Bonnie has ancient ties to someone who has ties to Stefan and Damon in the show, and Caroline is a lot less... evil in the show. Like I mentioned to someone else, Jeremy adds a lot (vs him being a 4 year old girl), especially because the way he deals with the death of their parents is much different than the way Elena deals. I also like the fact that Vicki IS related to Matt, because of course it clutters up things even MORE.

I didn't see last week's episode, although I know what happens. The big death. I thought that was kind of a daring thing to do. Did you read that they first shot the episode that someone else killed her, and not (spoiler for those who haven't seen it) Stefan? Originally they shot it where Jeremy killed her to save his sister. Anyway, I plan on watching that episode before this Thursday;s episode on cwtv.com. So I'll catch up. It took a few episodes to drag me in, but I do like this show. I think it shows promise. | |

But I did read it's synopsis for the novel series in wiki before, found it rather interesting but if its TV series is the same as what is in the novel it would be great! | |

There are some big differences, especially within the relationships of people to each other and the way they act. As a result, I DO prefer the show better. For anybody who has read the books, if you like the Elena in the books better, I would consider you crazy lol. | |

I don't hate it and I don't love it either. Actually many parts are interesting such as those evil tricks that Damon plays so deviously on Stephan.
I kind of get a little bored of the rivalry between the brothers though.
I really like the actress Nina Dobrev as Elena.
Also, I like Ian Somerhalder's (Damon) malevolent wickedness. He makes the show worthwhile. He's a very talented actor. I'm going to watch it again and see if it'll pick up a bit more pace.

I've seen him in a few other things, this is probably my favorite role for him, he fits it so well. Nina is the perfect Elena, when I was reading the book, it just seemed wrong because the description was nothing like 'Elena' to me and not only that but the girl in the book seemed shallow and spiteful as well, especially in terms of romance. Another oddity from the book to the show - Jeremy doesn't exist. I think in a show it is so much about characters and the interaction between them. I think he adds a lot of depth and dimension (and story line) and also Jenna is a much better aunt lol. | |

I have been following it about a week late since I can't actually watch it on tv, but I haven't missed an episode yet.
Not sure if you've read/heard of the books but I got curious and I decided to get the books. In my opinion, the show is better than the books, and I'm not sure if that's because I watched the show first and the storyline is not quite the same. I have decided that I like Elena and Stefan much better in the SHOW than in the book. In the book, she is one of those people I wouldn't want anything to do with, in the show, she'd probably be a friend of mine. Damon seems the same in both, maybe a tad more charming and humorous in the show - in the book he really isn't charming at all lol. | |
