ok being that we just celebrated halloween, i just want to know what your favorite scariest movies of all time. i went to a halloween party but decided to go home earlier than usual and instead do a movie marathon watchign some horror flicks that i have in my collection. i started around 2 am and just about ended 15 minutes ago. i watched 28 days, 28 days later, the exorcist, dawn of the dead, signs, the sixth sense, and a couple of japanese horror flicks like the ring trilogy and the grudge. in some cases, i didn't watch the entire movie but forwarded it to the really creepy and scary scenes.

so what makes up your favorite scariest movie list?

cheers!!!

Hi allen0187,

I grew up with horror movies so none really scare me but we have just watched Halloween and now we are watching Halloween 2 on the TV. I cant remember a Halloween without watching at least one of the Halloween movies.

When Halloween 2 ends, we will most likely put on some DVDs.

I like your list of films, the ring trilogy were excellentthumbup

I agree John Carpenter had a hit on his hands with the first Halloween movie, the sequels are never as good.

john carpenter is a good director.

i do like his 'Vampires' movies.

the scene when the lead vampire stabs and cuts one of the supporting actors in half with his bare hands is awesome.

coolness personified! made me want to be a vampire! lol!

cheers!!!

"It" was great, after I seen it I always stayed away from clowns

I think saw was pretty scary, the original poltergesit was pretty scary as well. I alos likeed the grudge dark water and two movies but were not strictly horror but wer scary nonetheless was magic with anothony hopkins and dressed to kill with michael caine. Another good really scary movie was the Omen with the late gregory peck and lee remick. Loved that one.

I really like scary movies..I always have. I guess some of m favorites would be the first Nightmare on Elm Street. If you are talking about more recent favorites then I would have to say that Quarentine is awesome. I also like the Halloween remake. I like the 28 days 1 and 2 also. The exorcist has to be one of the best all time scary movies.

28 days is really awesome. i got the special edition dvd with the alternate ending and the movie has no dull moment whatsoever. really great zombie flick there. nightmare on elm street is a fan favorite but i'm going to say that the original rocks but the sequels not much so. freddy krueger is one mean son of a gun and someone i don't want to see in my dreams.

lol!!!

cheers!!!

I didn't like the sequels of Nightmare on Elmstreet either. If you like zombie movies..I'm telling you..that new one Quarintine is awesome. There is another one called Book of the Dead that rocks too. I had got kind of burnt out on zombie movies before I saw these.

thanks for the heads up!

i'll try to keep an eye out for those two movies you mentioned. haven't gotten over the halloween spirit yet. still watching a lot of horror movies. later it will be a M. Night Shyamalan fest, going to watch 'signs', 'the village', 'the happening', and 'the sixth sense'. let the fright night begin.

cheers!!!

for most of october i decided to get in the spirit of halloween and try to watch strictly horror/sci-fi films. i notice that a lot of films that came out recently really don't scare me as much or at all, like a lot of the old school horror flicks did. what did catch my attention recently was paranormal activity, which really scared the crap out of me.

i have built a decent collection of horror films which include most of george a. romero's living dead series, the shining, blair witch project, halloween(original), scream and last house on the left to name a few.

thanks for choosing this thread to place your first post. i'm sure that many other posts will follow this one.

agree with you that most of the recent horror films aren't as scary as the older ones. the revivals and sequels pale in comparison to the originals. i have read a lot of great reviews about 'paranormal activity'. looking forward to watch it but i prefer to catch it on dvd instead of going to the theater. too many distractions there to truly enjoy the film in my opinion. that's a great collection you got there. particularly like scream, which is basically the mother of present slasher films.

thanks for joining. cheers!!!
