| 2. vastari (50) | 1 month ago | It's probably the best blogging tool out there. At least the best free one.
Most hosts come with an autoinstaller, but even if they don't it's still really easy to install it on your server. Once that's done, it provides a very easy interface for blog posting, categories, pages, multiple authors....everything you need for a blog. It also has a wide array of plugins you can install to enhance the features of it to suit your liking. Thousands of free templates, hundreds of premium ones...IN fact, depending on the theme you use you can set Wordpress up so that it looks like you're running a regular website as opposed to a blog!
Definitely check this out if you want to get into blogging. It's as easy as Blogspot, and a lot more powerful.

nooveggies (191) | 1 month ago | Hi vastari. i'm currently using blogspot to host my blog, but I want to switch to wordpress because of the more feature it has to offer. My question is, is it difficult to adjust my blogging activities given that I've been using blogger for years? And also do I need to know anything about php? Thanks.

| vastari (50) | 1 month ago | It's very easy to switch. In fact, I think there's a way to import blogspot posts into a Wordpress blog. The way Wordpress works is almost identical to Blogspot, and no you don't need to know php. Depending on your host, setting up the blog is either as easy as one click of a button, or you'll need to know some FTP and SQL stuff. If you're having trouble setting up a Wordpress blog, send me a message and I can host it and set it up for you.
I would advise hosting your own WP blog, as if you get a free host off wordpress.com they don't let you have advertisements. In fact, they don't let you earn money from their free blogs at all.

therisingsun (309) | 1 month ago | Thanks for this discussion but let me know, is the wordpress is like a blogger.com? Can I independently create a blog from wordpress or I must have a blog before signing up there?

| vastari (50) | 1 month ago | It seems to be that you're a bit confused. Or maybe I'm reading you wrong. Wordpress comes in two types.
The first is Wordpress.com. This is pretty much exactly like Blogger, in that you sign up and create your blog. But they have a lot of limitations. You can't edit the design, you're not allowed make money and so on.
The second type is the Wordpress package. This is a download which you install on your own host. IE you need paid hosting, or very good free hosting, to use it. Most hosts come with a Wordpress Autoinstaller, which does it all at the click of a button.
The second type of Wordpress is really the best thing I have ever come across for making a blog. Nothing beats it in my opinion. About the only thing Blogger does better is designing your own site, as with Wordpress the themes are pretty hard to edit. Like I said before though, if you want to make the move, but can't afford hosting or don't know how, I'd be glad to help!

4. starscream (406) | 1 month ago | Wordpress is content management system. You can use it to build blogs, sites, e-commerce systems, membership site and many other online presentation sites. Wordpress is PHP based CMS and can work with Mysql or other database. Most of the hosting sites offer auto-installation of wordpress blog.If you own your site then you can install wordpress in just 2 minute steps by using fantastico or softaculous.
If you don't own hosting and domains then only way you can try wordpress is using sites like wordperss.com or blog.co.in. Hope this answers your question and some future queries about wordpress.
