Do you use apple sauce in baking instead of eggs?

Most of the time eggs help in make cakes or breads to rise and for keeping the ingredients sticking together. You don't have to have applesauce in banana nut bread. the bananas can be used for moisture.

Apple sauce instead of egg? I've not tried that yet. I also don't know if apple sauce could make a good substitute either.I've always used egg in my banana bread and had no idea that apple sauce could be used not until you posted about it. If your friend can manage then I think, I should try that too. But I doubt if the result will be as soft as that with eggs.

Are ou sure you don't have that mixed upwith oilfor applesauce? You need eggs to bind it together...BUT i have substituted applesauce for the oilin cakes, breads etc...Lori

I also believe that applesauce is substituted for oil. It's healthier than using something like vegetable oil and such fats as lard. I've only used it a few times. Instead I use my favorite recipes and use whatever that recipe calls for.

I am glad that you have started this discussion. I was not familiar with the fact that you could substitute eggs with apple sauce. I am going to have to do a little research, plus go through and read all of your responses here. I have recently discovered an egg allergy, and this will really come in handy for me. I'll have to talk to my sister about it as well, as she is the cook and crafty one of the family.
