Well, I couldn't rightly think of a scenario for women, except maybe the locker room or something. And I don't know of anything else that a woman could whip out -- lest she's not a woman after all

That's the thing, I didn't start this discussion to call for changes in our public bathroom situation. However, the bathrooms aren't just segregated because of our anatomy, but the interest we have in each others anatomy.

You probably wouldn't care about the sexuality of the woman in the same bathroom as you, but what is the difference between a lesbian looking at you in the bathroom and a man? really, nothing.

IMO its not about the sexuality thing..its the threat factor...a man is seen far more as a potential physical threat than a woman is, lesbian or not..

I would be bothered by anyone looking at me in the bathroom. Raven does make a very good point. I think I'd feel more threatened if it were a man and mainly because of the physical capabilities.

Ravenj: In the case all public bathrooms should be "co-ed" because then they wouldn't be secluded enough for anyone to be a threat to anyone else.

Actually, the "wall of urinals" was originally invented for space, speed and convenience. You can fit a lot more urinals in the same space as whole toilet stalls and if guys only need to pee, why do we need a whole stall?

There is also the "trough" urinals that are quite literally what you are talking about.;~D

No, it wouldn't because I would be using a "stall" which is "private".

Maybe, it is because I have been to foreign countries. Some of them only have a single restroom that is used by all sexes and they have stalls. It is not uncommon to have a man in one stall and a woman in the next. It is not a big deal. Some people are just so prudish about taking care of "nature calls". All you need is a little privacy to do your business. No need to make a big production about it or worry about what someone else is doing.

Well if a man was in the womans rest room he is either confussed or a pervert and needs to have charges pressed agaisnt him.

If my sister was in the same bathroom as a lesbian, and she was afraid that lesbian was checking her out, yes, depending on the details, I probably would tell her to get over herself. Especially if said lesbian was just doing her business like any other woman who needs to use the restroom.

So you don't care what anyone else thinks, as long as you can feel comfortable.

Im sorry you feel that way, but luckily it has no impact on the reality of the kind of person I am. I care about what matters. What some straight guy is afraid I might do to him if I catch him alone in the bathroom ranks very low on my priority list.

If I need to use the restroom, I'll do so, regardless of who else is there atthe time, as long as there is a sign that says male on the door. If someone is insecure with thier own sexuality enough to feel threatened by that, I have nothing but pity for them. Thats no way to live your life.

Society does need to talk about the impact things have on idividuals though. Simply saying it's our problem only leads to more problems.

I do agree with much of what you said, but do you really think gender differences go no further than what's between our legs?
