To give is to receive

This is a wonderful habit that everyone should practice or at least do once in a while. I do this whenever I have the power to do so in my own little ways. For example, I don't sell my clothes and my other stuff if I don't like it anymore. I always make it a point to give it to friends or relatives who want it. If not, I always give it to charity. I never make any money out of my old stuff. Every year, I also visit an orphanage, usually during December. When I go, I always bring tons of rice and canned food or instant noodles and some juice to give to them. I know it is not a lot but I feel good in somehow helping them.

Me too always believe in sharing and helping other as much as i can without expecting any reward and i always get back much more than what i have spent. I am studying my own religion deeply now a days and Allah says that "i can forgive if you hurt me by disobeying my teachings but i will never forgive if you will hurt other humans with your attitude and behavior until that person by himself will forgive you"

My husband and I were talking about this, just a few minutes ago. He gave me $20 to pick up something at the store tomorrow which would comme nowhere near $20, and he nearly fell off of his chair when I asked him if he wanted change back. LOL I believe in giving what we can, and being pleased to receive, but not expecting it, however, I've also seen my husband and others get taken advantage of...a lot...because of this. I am somewhat generous, but overly cautious in order to protect myself. I give to those I know I can trust.

Though it's been said It's better to give than to receive. Still we can't resist the blessings from above. Others who received help from us may don't have something in return for the moment, but God is always there, by the time we'll be in need, He's always ready to give...

I have found this to be true sometimes but not all of the time. I have given alot in my course of years. I do receive but it is usually not from the person that was gave to. It all works out somehow.

Yes. I guess it's because that our minds work in the same wavelength that something good should be 'repaid' with something good even though we do not expect anything in return. Even when your son switches places with his friend, it will always work that way. I think it's natural that we want to simply express our gratitude.

I am not very religious when it comes to tithes giving but I do admit that I am not the type to not share what I have. I love giving stuffs to people, or treating people to food trips, etc. And I always find joy when I get to share. I do not expect anything in return or sometimes I forget to expect anything in return. I am just thankful for every blessing that I receive but dont necessarily think that they are paybacks for a good deed that I have done. I agree that there is joy in sharing. A person who holds on to his wealth like there's none tomorrow is like believeing that there really is NONE for tomorrow.

Hi winterose, remember the motto, it is better to give than to receive. Well, that is really true coz when we give we dont usually expect to receive favors from that person. But if he want to return the favor it would be up to him. It means also that he appreciates our intention and he does not forget what we did. Lets just not forget that if the person cannot return the favor, it will be somebody or God himself will be the one to bless us. Christmas, is fast approaching and they said that it is the season of giving not a season of receiving.{em}

I do find when I give something without thinking about myself (time, money...) that good things happen when I am not expecting them. And giving always make me happy anyway.

Hi winterose,Yes, i agree with you for me it is beter to give than to recieve.Base on my experience i used to give to the needy as long as i can,without expecting in return. I do believe that when you help heartily to the needy God will be happy.As the saying says,what you sow is what you get.But most of the time, the litle thing you give,the return from God is more than you gave.Good luck!
