Active brain, leads to creative thought |
|
From the point I was in elementary school, until now, I have always had an overactive imagination. Whether is be in writing, or drawing, something always clicked with me. There was one year when the washington dairy farmers were running a contest with some of the junior high schools to create some sort of banner that would promote their healthy bones campaign. I, and a few of my classmates, set a few wheels in motion. The final product was well put together, and we even had our picture in the newspaper. We were all ecstatic about our crowning achievement. I was even more excited, because it was my pictures that put us on the map. Have you ever done anything like that? If you haven't, what kinds of things keep your creative mind busy?

1. Hatley (21892) | 2 months ago | hi geminikid good for you, that must have been really exciting to do while still young and in junior high. I have not done anything like that. I won some writing contests in college but that was the extent of any success. I do write poetry and prose, and am journaling a sort of account of my life before Gold Crest and now at Gold Crest.I don't know if anything will come of it, but I just have fun being creative.

2. linamachina (276) | 2 months ago | Hi geminikid, that's awesome about your achievement! I had some stuff in high school for the Literary magazine but nothing published outside of that. I do love to write though, poetry and I also journal but I haven't done much of that lately. I am with my sister's young kids a lot and find that my creativity now is verbal stories. They are always asking me to tell them a "story" and to make it up. It's a lot of fun actually and I have thought about putting some of the "stories" on paper. I wanted to write a children's book. My problem is that after I'm done telling them, I don't always remember all the details and I'm already starting a new one! But they do keep me creative and they have wonderful imaginations so sometimes we will do a round robin, for example, I'll start the story and stop and then my niece will add her part and then my nephew adds his. It's funny and keeps their brain active as well!

3. asiangirl93 (64) | 2 months ago | I think I have a creative mind. I keep thinking too much like fantasies and universe. Some of them are really cheesy and too childish.
I write fan fictions and one of my well, I think a good one is a about this Anime called Naruto. They time travel and met their future childrens and suchs. It was really fun thinking of it. I also think something like, magical forces and such. Maybe I could be a good Comic author, Just don't let me draw those cool outfits and such. Hahaha

4. celticeagle (4926) | 2 months ago | I love to do research. Any subject. Alot of times it will be ancient civilizations, especially Egypt, and away I go! Into the anciet world of the Pharoahs and the lives of the anciet Egyptians. Amazing stuff! And I think that brainstorming comes from an active mind that is always thinking, always rising to the imagination and letting it go freely where ever it wants to. Such fun! Thanks goodness for the computer and all it gives to us!

Everyone wants a creative mind and a rich imagination. At least that's what I hear. You deserve to be proud of your achievements at that young age. In school I used to win all the painting and singing contests, so much so that my tutors had s special prize ready just for me each and every time. I won 3rd place in the All India Shankar's On the Spot Painting competition in high school, and I almost decided to study art. I do dabble in paint once in a while but my passion is writing fiction.
I even dreamed of becoming a rock/pop star and sent out invitations to final year students from the best schools to join my band. It was just a fantasy and it was fun dreaming it up. But I did fulfill this dream of mine when I actually put together a band in college (and sang Diana Ross songs) and later on in Bangalore. I used to sing 4 Non Blondes songs and Aerosmith's 'Come Together'.
Long live creativity. It's sure to keep you looking and feeling young!

8. much2say (722) | 2 months ago | Ah, geminikid - I didn't realize you were an artist as well (my love/profession for many years). That's quite an artistic achievement at a young age - how awesome you must have felt - and to be acknowledged for it! I can't think of any headliner worthy moments like that for me, but I will say there are a few projects that stand out in my mind as that creative achievement "high". Those creative projects have always been up my alley as well!
In junior high, we had a poetry book assignment. We had to create an entire book - in any shape or form - with our own illustrations, famous poetry, and our own works. I put my all into it - and it came out really well. My teacher picked 5 of her favorites for her to keep - and mine was one of them. I was honored! But she kept it in her permanent collection - I wish I had gotten it back!.
In college, I took drawing classes from the "god" professor of drawing. He gave us one project where we had to create a collage from magazine clippings and to render it exactly. When the day came for critiqueing, he looked at my piece and said "No, no, no . . . you were supposed DRAW the collage, not just glue the magazine clippings!". I told him to take a look closer . . . he even went so far as to touching it . . . I drew the rips and cuts to make it look so REAL . . . ha ha - I even fooled "the god"! Felt pretty darn good.
