Tuesday's election was an embarrassment for both major parties. email this discussion to a friend?

Have you ever noticed that your own party can do no wrong, while all the other parties can do nothing right? The flak over Tuesday's election is proof that no matter what, it's party uber alles.

The fact is, it was embarrassing for both major parties.

New York Mayor Bloomberg spent almost $100 million in his re-election campaign. How hard should it have been for the wildly popular mayor to beat someone so unknown, most people in New York will have a hard time remembering his name a few weeks from now. Yet the outcome was deemed a "nailbiter".

The much hyped New York 23rd district race was won by Democrat Bill Owens... by 3% over the pretty much unknown and self described "boring" 3rd party candidate Doug Hoffman. 3%? How embarrassing! Especially when you consider that the "Republican" candidate, Dede Scozzafava dropped out and Backed the Democrat. What would have happened had she stayed in the race? Since most her views were to the left of the Democrat, staying in the race might have secured a Hoffman victory (which would be about the only real reason she would have had for dropping out like she did. One has to wonder how much of her RNC donated million dollar war chest ended up being donated to the Owens at the last minute.

Prs. Obama even put his good name and political muscle behind a few candidates... I wonder if he noticed that none of them won? I wonder if future candidates will notice too. Democrats are shrugging it off, Republicans are pointing and snickering. I say that if such endorsements are meaningless, then they can't be worth the taxpayer money spent doing them.

Regarding Scazzafava - yes the RNC gave way too much money for a rino. I do agree with you that nobody should be celebrating much. The Republicns should pay attention and buckle down for 2010.
Regarding Obama, he claims he wasnt watching the results. Here is your President - cant be bothered with a silly election he isnt a part of. AMAZING

Obama was probably too busy watching a documentary of himself, or listening to copies of is past speeches to pay attention to anything not centered around himself.
