Is it wrong to hit your child?

it is wrong to hit your child and more so when people abuse them and say its for their own good!! all you teach a child is that hitting is good to get your own way when someone does not do what you want them to do . there is nothing wrong with discipline and children must learn right from wrong but they must also me taught how to understand what is deemed as right and whats is deemed as wrong.
Children are the future so when you want to raise your hand think about what values you wish them to have as adults and think if you want to live in a world where violence is acceptable.
as for people who abuse kids they are nothing but cowards so don't bring your kids up like that.

Hi itsmauricecassidy, It is very wrong to hit or beat a child and will cause problems later in life. Always remember that we are the adults and by beating them, we tell them that violence is okay. There are far better ways to teach your child. Blessings.

Once in a while you may hit...but not often...as they are small and they should be advised again and again....

Too much beating will never be tolerated by the kids and they will grow to be more stubborn teenagers...I have seen a report saying this...

I believe that it is wrong to hit your child. To discipline the child has a lot of other ways without even hitting them. Children doesn't understand things right away. they did not know yet what is right or wrong, they did not know what is bad or good. Talking to the child and giving the child time to understand things fully well will help the much in disciplining the child.
everything could be work out by just talking to the child in a right way.

Tap its hand as form of discipline it depends I think some think its ok but personally i prefer not to a child can learn from their mistakes without being hit to teach that lesson.
I mean if you made a mistake at work and your boss hit you what would you do? have them up for assult so why is it ever ok to hit a small defenseless child for a mistake? thats my main reason for never hitting my own children.

yeah, i disagreee, wid this who hit their childs wen they do some thing wrong or misbehaving because childrens are gift of god nd that hte time for them to do fun n masti. also if we teach them politely, then they do obey u. today hitting child cause advrese effect on child's mind? i see mostly. its depend on both childrens n parents that they understand each other.

Everyone has a different definition of what is young. Are you asking about physically disciplining an infant, toddler, or child of elementary school age? And I can tell you as the mother of 4 that most children know the difference between right and wrong around the age of 1.

If a person likes to get hit then, I can understand why they would hit another person. There are many ways to discipline a child and hitting is not one of them.

to beat a child is wrong,but the occasional smack is fine,my mum smacked me and it didn't do me any harm,i've smacked my kids and they are just fine

yes it is wrong, children do not to feel physical pain if they are being disciplined, theres other ways to discipline child without using physical force, i have never in my life hit my kids, if they were naughty i woulod talk to them and ground them for being naughty, never would i ever raise my hands to them, i was always being hit as a kid so i know what it's like to feel that pain, it's horrible...
