Has your home ever been robbed?

Hi Oracle,

I am very sorry about robbery of your neighbor house and also
you must take more care, particularly when you were alone, and
also try to fix the video cameras in outside and also hold something
for your safety concern. As you have knew that we can seen everywhere
there is robbers and they are stealing every where in order to survive,
but unfortunately we can not accept them, because we are also in the
same condition . So try to take more precaution in order to save the
house and also to have the peaceful life.

Yup someone broke into the last place I lived. I came home and didn't notice anything until I went to turn on the TV and our Satellite Box thing was gone, along with all of our movies, portable DVD player, digital camera and I don't remember what else!! I was beyond mad becuase all of my kids movies were gone!! I was scared that they would come back but I took extra steps to make my place safe like ya'll are doing!

Yes when I was living in an apartment, it was someone my son knew, I was at work and my son called me on the phone, telling me out apartment, had been broken into, when I got home the police were there, I had alway told my son, about the kind of friend he hang around, they took my house phone, they took my camcorer I just brought, they took his game system, I had a laptop computer, they didn't take that, because I had in in the rocking chair cover up with clothes, my son would alway leave it out, and I told him not to do that.

My home has never been rob but two of my friends has been robbed. It was a horrible experience for them and caused them to move to a better neighborhood even though they really can't afford it. At least no one was hurt.

my mums place got robbed last yr, it's in a sense a funny story. but scary at the same time, cause i'd only left there 10 minutes before hand. if i'd stayed and worked the horse it could have been stopped. these 2 blokes were looking a bit suspesious, and our neighbor asked them a few questions. he then in turn phoned the cops, but by the time they got out that way. the blokes were gone. turned out they only went round the corner to an neighbor place, this time they were talking to them and checking out the house at the same time. basically they'd introduced them selves round the place.
mum didn't know about anything till she got home later that day. they took the tv, some meat from the freezer, and a few other things. the cops were useless on helping with things cause it was a friday, we had to wait till monday before they did something useful. mum got everything but the meat back, it had been dumped bout half way to town. the blokes had also been to a place further out than mums.
the blokes have since been charged for what they did.

Yes I have experienced the pain of being house robbed which was why I left South Africa and migrated to the UK. This was about five years ago, we had all just come back from a football match and just when we were going to bed we hear gunshots and find about 30 armed men had surrounded our house. The held us all at gun point and literally wiped every thing in the house. They took everything and I mean everything. The only thing we had left were the pajamas we were wearing. They did this to five other houses too. I don't want to go into too much detail on what exactly happened or I'll start crying as it was a very painful moment. My cousin was shot right in front of us and he bled to death in my arms so....

Thankfully here in the UK I haven't been robbed.

My home thankfully has never been robbed but my grandmothers house had been robbed 3 times.. Its such a violation I think. All her jewelery was gone her house was torn apart. Its really sad.. Hopefully I will never have to experience it. Last year 5 homes on my block was hit.. Thank god they missed us

that was really scary indeed. thankfully at least no one got hurt in that robbery. once in our home, i will not say someone robbed our home inside. just that someone stole my bike. maybe because i forgot to lock my gate, i was too young then too lazy to make sure the gate was lock and just doze to sleep and the next morning my bike was missing. it was not really professional robbers who did it. just small time robbers who like steal around neighborhood.

i am sorry that your neighbour got robbed and i hope they catch these parasites who did it, it's just horrible to think that someone has been in your home going through your things, i would not be able to relax there if that happened to me...

many years ago when i was married with a young family, my THEN husband were in bed, it was windy outside the weather was bad and the windows were making alot of noise, we only had them old metal window frames then so when it was windy they rattled, anyways the next day i got up and the VCR was gone, that's all what got taken, we only had the VCR for a few days so obviously someone who had been in my home must have known we had it, months later i was visiting a friend and i noticed thats he had the same VCR as mine, i soon realised that the VCR she has WAS mine, i knew it was mine because i had a puppy at the time and she has chewed the corner of the VCR, so i didn't say anything, i just left and then called the police, they went to her hme and arrested her, that day i also found out that my THEN husband was having an affair with her and he'd told her brother to break in and take it so he could give it to his bit on the side, i was devastated because i had been burgled and my husband was seeing a 16 year old girl..he was in his late 20's..but every cloud has a silver lining, i divorced him and left with my kids, he was always getting into trouble and bringing trouble to my home, it was not good for me or the kids, i met a nice man years later so my ex did me a massive favour, if i had not have found out about the VCR i would never have found put about him having the affair either...

According to what you have said above, you'd better take more care to your house. Although I have never met such a bad situation until now, I will be careful after reading your experience.

It is obvious that crime is the biggest headache to all home owners. Although some home owners have taken some measures to prevent from being robbed, it seems that all robbers are more clever than house owners. Perhaps what we can only do is to call the police after being robbed.
