Career Crisis, How to solve it? email this discussion to a friend?

Can somebody advice me on how to solve this pretty hard problem of mine? Just yesterday I applied for a job as a civil engineer, and I underwent three interviews in a real estates company. The persons who interviewed me seems like assessing to what department or specific job they will put me up. Afterward, the last interviewer told me that they will be rerouting me to the other department heads because they can't easily decide on where to place me. They keep on asking me if what specific job in civil engineering do I like the most, but I can't directly answer their question because I'm kind of can't assess myself fairly on where do I excel the most.I'm just a fresh graduate of civil engineering, who just got my license a few months ago and with little experience on a consultancy firm. If you're aware, civil engineering is a diverse field. A civil engineer can do structural designs, quantity and cost surveys, hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, construction project management, roads and highways to name a few. My belief is that I think I can excel in any job with proper training and guidance but I think I should be able to decide on what specific niche should I take. So can anyone please help me how to fairly assess myself on what niche in my field should I take? Or if you're in my case what would you do? Thanks.

There not asking you where you excel the most like you said but what field you like the most. What do you like the most? I can't decide that for you.

Hi, I think I interchangeably use the word like for the word excel and vice versa. I think I simply mean like. I can't assess what do I like the most. Honestly, I'm a bit confused now on what to choose because of the complexity of my chosen field given that I haven't got any direct job exposure, so I really don't know how is it like to be on a specific job. In case we're not talking about my field, how do you assess yourself on what job do you like the most even you haven't been through to a certain job before? Should I just simply try a certain job and if I don't like doing it, then I'll decide to shift? But I think it would take too long. Probably, I just thought of a solution to my problem just now. I think I should make a comprehensive research first on each job and if possible I'll try to interview persons who have gone through those jobs. What do you think? Can you suggest any other solutions aside from that? Thanks
