Friends Cat keeps peeing on couch/bed.

Well, it depends. Was she like this before? When did she start doing this? If it's been a while, then maybe her cat has bladder issues. I know some pets have these problems. My "keeps peeing", do you mean every day? Every week?

It may have been a habit, if she's been doing this for a long time. She's just used to peeing on either the couch or bed, so doesn't pee anywhere else but there. I recently just got a puppy, and she peed behind the sofa one day. Now, whenever she needs to pee and we don't get to her on time, she goes behind the sofa. She's used to it.

I have 4 kiddies and not too long ago one of them was urinating and defecating everywhere but in the litter box...it turns out she was sick and had to be on medication...doc said she was in pain from some sort of infection so wherever the feeling struck her that's where she would go.
Take the kiddie to the vet and I bet this will help.

I would say something is going on that the cat is getting even with her for. Our cat would pee in the bathroom upstairs in my daughter-in-laws bath room because the daughter-in-law din't like the cat. The woman even threw something at her before the cat started peeing in the bathroom. after the daughter-in-law moved the cat stopped peeing in there.

If the cat has just started to do this, it may be due to a medical problem, a bladder infection for example. I might also be a behavorial problem. Cats will do this if they are under some sort of stress. In the first instance though, you should have her examined by a vet to see if there is a medical problem that is causing her to do this.

It could be a medical problem as others have suggested, or it could just be a smell she picked up. Cats have a highly developed sense of smell, and if she got a wiff of something on the bed or couch that could make her think this is the place to go. Now that she has gone there herself, even if it is well cleaned, she now thinks this is the place to go. You, or your friend should watch the cat carefully and try to catch her before she does it again, then put her outside or in the box, where ever she should be going. Then get some cat detering smell to put on the places she is not suppost to be going. they sell anti-cat scents, or you can just use mothballs/crystals. If it isnt medical, than this should fix things.

One big reason could be that the cat has a urinary tract infection. This causes the cats to pee in places that they usually don't normally pee in. If it is a UTI, they need to get the cat to a vet asap! UTI's can kill a cat in a matter of a few days. I had to change the food for my cats because of Willy...he's a two year old Siamese male that suffers from chronic UTI's. Get the poor girl to the vet!

Once you've taken care of the UTI, then spray the bed and couch with Nature's Miracle. It will eliminate the odor of the urine immediately and it won't be a draw for the cat to come back to that area to pee.
