Love is all that matters in the end!

Hi D. I don't know your son, but you and your daughter are an inspiration and living proof of the power of prayer.

Some people will try to "explain away" your experiences, but no one can deny YOUR OWN experience. YOU know what happened. Thank you for sharing it here.

Traditional religion is not what I practice either, what I have is a relationship with God. I had been praying for my son to get his life right. He had no use for living 'right'. He is young, divorced and angry at God. This experience has made him change his mind. It made him realize that life is indeed GOOD...

Did God have a hand in this? I don't know God's mind...but I have faith that HE does know what is best. My son's life is precious...but his soul is infinatley more precious for it will go on forever. I am so grateful God did not lay it on me to give him up...even for the short time we would be separated...but I am even more grateful that my son's soul is reaching out to God.

I want to respond to you about the trials you have been through. I too, have had many bad things happen to me...and have been through similar things as you. I got angry at God for a long time...I never lost my faith IN Him...but I was very angry at Him...until He showed me that the things I was going through were not His will, but with HIS help we could turn them around for the GOOD. God is Good. Believe that, seek Him and you will find Him. Love, Debi

Thank you Debbie for sharing so much of your personal pain and joy. There are times I question God in prayer, and like a literal father, I sometimes get upset with him a little but I have never turned away from him. He is the only constant in my life because I have always been alone. In some ways that was a blessing because I had to lean on him more than someone who perhaps had a sheltered life. No doubt, you understand.

On the other hand, I do get angry with religion because of how it misleads sincere people and leaves them without real answers and lies about what really is spirituality.

I am happy that in some way, he is helping your son to turn his life around. Nothing is more anguishing for a mother than to think that their child is living a life that will only bring them harm. I rejoice with you that his future is looking up.

I share because I believe that is why we go through things, good or bad...so we can learn...and hopefully help others to learn from our experiences. God bless my friend.

You are so right Debbie. I wholeheartedly agree that even though we do not always understand why things happen it is all for the purpose of edifying ourselves and each other.

Thank you Cobrateacher...for you good words here. Faith does indeed bring miracles. God is love, and that love brought him to earth to share in our sufferings. We have a God who knows our pain. He is good, He is love and if we seek Him...we can find the center of His will...and share in that love.

I have felt that same love dragon...isn't it good? My son knows that now too...after running and being angry for so long...now he is sure of God's presence.

rg0205...I stayed too. Until it drove me crazy. Broke me down and made me so angry at God, I mistakenly believed that HE wanted me to suffer. I will pray for you and your mom....religion may say she must stay...but God does not expect her to be abused and hurt. I pray that her heart will find a way through. Sam hadn't been to church since his wife divorced him...he went Sunday. He raised his hands in prayer! Praise God!

That is wonderful Debi. I am keeping you, Sam and James in my prayers.

Ahh...you remembered Jimmy. Thank you. Let me tell you a bit about Jim's reaction to all this.
When we got the phone call that Sam's liver had 'crashed'..we drove the six miles into to town at 90 miles an hour...over hills and around curves. Jim was yelling, not yet....not yet as he drove. We pulled up into the hospital parking lot and I saw the helicopter sitting there waiting to take off...I cried out Sam's in there! Jim ran up to a helicopter with it's blades going and pounded on the window! The pilot (who was very BIG) stepped out and picked my eldest son up by his arms...walked out of harms way with him, very calmly said....your brother is not loaded yet...smiled as he said...you may be riding with him if you try that again!

As we entered ICU...Jim rushed over to Sam and kissed him full on the mouth...and said I love you! Don't die!

Before we got the call, we had been talking about Jim's feelings about God. He said if God was such a great 'father' why did he send his children to hell....I know this was on his mind all week. He has professed to believe...pray that he find understanding of what God really feels for his children. He's been silent about it since Sam came home. He will mull it over...and when he is ready he will speak. Pray I have the response the Holy Spirit intends for him. Thank you for all your prayers, love you very much!

He will speak. You will be ready. You will have the right words.

God's love...the love that brought Him here to earth to share in our sufferings. Yes, we must pray especially when times are good....for it is not a lottery or a wish list He wants..but a relationship with those He loves. Thanks for responding trisha. And I am glad you are well and whole now. God is definately GOOD!

God IS love...and HE is definately a postive force! When we allow that force to fill us...it makes a difference!

I will be here a few hours a day, a few days a week. Sam sees the doctor on Thursday for blood work. Hopefully more good news. He is expected to fully recover...just will take time.

I am keeping you all in my prayers. It's awesome that he will recover, I know that's a sigh of relief that just keeps on going.

I read some of the other comments and have a little more understanding of the situation there with your sons. Sometimes it's difficult to find your way spiritually when*religion* is all you know. And I don't know what church y'all attend or what you believe, other than generally, so please take the following kind of generically, ok? For some people, and depending on the religion, too, there are a lot of things that just defy credibility and faith just doesn't cover it. I found 99% of what faith didn't cover for me ended up being something the preacher twisted into something frightening that wasn't ever supposed to be. I view religion as man made rules applied to the Creators' simple guides for living peacefully and well with your fellow man and developing spiritual growth. It was a long path from where I came from, where everything that held any pleasure was a*sin* and a vengeful God sending all the sinners to Hell was screamed from the pulpit every Sunday with a lot of Bible thumping and veins pulsing from the temples until you thought they must explode....to where I am today...spiritually fulfilled, growing, happy and at peace. I will pray that your son(s) will find their way to spiritual beliefs that will comfort them, as well. It looks like they won't be taking the long path, though, I think they just got in the*Express Lane*!

Thank you, we had a hard life...and my four boys are still angry at how life has beat them down. They've not been the wisest in their choices...but God is talking to them...in His own way. I'm putting all five of my kids and all 13 of my grandkids in His hands. I trust HIM and HIM alone.

You're right about the current state of 'the church'. Preachers living lives that are evil...and condemning people to hell for smoking cigarettes or wearing make up. Preachers telling abused women and children if they leave they will go to hell...we've seen alot, me and my five kids. How they turned out to be the compassionate and caring people they are...I can only give credit to them and to God. My oldest is still very angry but he's listening....I am praying for him too. God give me the strength for the answer... God is working and revealing HIS truth to all of them. It is really all about LOVE. God's love...not the twisted version, but the truth! I pray for us all...we are about to be sorely tested if I am interpreting things going on correctly. I am praying I have the strength to stand firm....and in God's love. God bless you too, my friend.
