Have you ever tried to make your own candles?  

ya i made them this diwali it is fun loving

I haven't tried it but I do. I've wanted to try my hand at it because I love candles and it would generally be a much better idea to make my own instead of buying them. Also, I could sell a lot of candles as they do great for online businesses. I just don't have the motivation or the time at this point to really try and make my own candles.

i always make my used candles and recycle them.. it's a lot easier if u have the materials. a string,a stick to handle the string, a can and a flame to melt the used candles =) i never tried making candles out of something but used candles. =)

I have tried once and the result wasn't good...
I had a lot of leftover wax from candles almost finished or anyways too short to light up, so I decided to melt all of that and make just a big candle.
First to say, the leftovers were all of a different color, and the end result was a dark red, that wasn't bad. I melted everything into a pot then put it into a shape I made with aluminium foil.
Well, the result was looking good at first but as I unwrapped the candle I found out that cooling wax had shrinked in the centre so there was a hole in the middle...that wasn't nice at all, I didn't expect it to shrink.
Then another pain was cleaning the pot...I went mad scrubbing it, I tried pouring some water in it but the wax became instantly solid. At the end I found out the best idea was to heat water in the pot, so the remaining wax will float on the top since it doesn't mix with water. But to be honest, that wasn't fun at all.
And when I finally went to light up that candle I found out that mixing all those leftovers wasn't such a great idea, instead, it mixed colors (and obviously also their chemicals) and artificial scents...I bet it was toxic to burn. I had to throw that away and I won't be doing that anymore. Just anymore. Lol!

I made one when I was still in high school but it was a recycled candle. We gather old candles and make a big single candle out of it. Then we make some candle holder that has beading and flowers. It's cool!

Not yet but it really liked to, the only problem is that i don't know what to make out of them. I don't even have an idea on what designs to make. But i would really like to make one of my own. It would be nice if someone could share some good designs to make use of those candle wax. Thanks guys..

Oh I have never thought about making candles.However I have seen different varierties of candles at shops and homes.I really like the colourful and great shapes that they come in.But I have never contemplated making candles myself.I am sure that as you say it involves a lot of work.But as you mentioned it definitely must give a lot satisfaction when one sees it as a finished product.

I have made my own candles and have made them for gifts in the past. I prepared myself for what I was getting into by reading a book about how to make candles. Everything was set up to prevent cleaning up a big mess. I loved making them and I plan to make them again.

My sister-in-law knows how and she has been offering to give me free lessons on how to make them! She has a gift shop, and it pretty much helps to have something like candle-making as a means of getting income. But she's a bit busy now, so she had to order candles from a cousin of hers, who my sister-in-law says, is a better candle maker than her. It is pretty messy especially i8f you don't have a big space to work on, and a pretty tedious process too.

I have tried to make candles myself and have been reasonably successful.I could make some ordinary ones which lit up well but I never really had the patience or the inclination to make fancy ones. It is a lot of hard work and requires a lot of patience.
