Would YOU Pay $1.48 For ONE Slice Of Cheese? email this discussion to a friend?

CONSUMER BEWARE!!!angry

I went to a local fast food joint for breakfast this morning (I don't wanna name names, but the initials are BK) and ordered two sausage biscuits for $1.00 each...total amount, $2.14 tax included.

After further consideration, I asked to have a slice of cheese added to each.

After adding, the total was now $5.10!!!

WTF!!!angry

I asked what was going on, and the person waiting on me (a manager no less) informed me that according to company policy, when cheese is added to a sausage biscuit, it then officially becomes a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit, even though I don't get the egg with it. doh

So I told them to keep the cheese.

Have you ever been charged an outrageous price for something you weren't going to get?

That is ridiulous you could have probably gotten a pound of cheese for $1.48 somewhere else. I told my daughter about this and she said that BK is known for being big time rip off. I'm glad you said NO to the cheese. I never eat at that place. If I eat fast food its usually only Taco Bell or Wendy's, but that is very rare. It has probably happened to me with something else I can't remember at this time. I would do the same thing you did and say no thank you that is a rip off. Yes I would have said that to the person trying to sell me the item to his face. I hate when people try to pull the wool over your eye. This is probably why I don't trust alot of people. lol

Lol, It must be quite confusing odering food in America!!
Would you have still paid the 5.10 if you had had the eggs and the cheese then?
I wouldnt be spending money in BK anyway, always seems expensive

But at service stations here in Scotland, and maybe other parts of the UK as well, you can expect to pay about 3 quid, or 5 bucks for a small pot of boiling water and a solitary tea bag!!(plus the use of a not normally clean cup and saucer)

Next time you go to bk, take your own cheese slices with you and add them, maybe take a couple of eggs as well, lol

I may do that tomorrow...unwrap the sandwich at the counter and put a slice of cheese on it... lol

Now that Washington has shoved their insanely expensive "health care bill" down our throats, I have no doubt at all we'll see tea & coffee shoot up to levels only Washington politicians can afford, too.

Angry? Of course. Wouldn't you be? angryangryglare

That's funny but very true. When I visited the restaurant my friend works in, I was surprised to see that they charged roughly the same amount, something like 1.20-1.40 for a slice of cheese to be added to your sandwich. Then they justify it by saying it's imported and gourmet cheese. I know I wouldn't spend that much on a slice. What's so special about it anyway?

unfortunately I've never experienced anything like this, it's called consumers trap to consume food that they serve for reasons that are less plausible. Why the price is displayed does not match the price we paid, maybe if this happened to me I'll find another place and do not want to go to that place again.

It happened to me too! I was at a restaurant like you and I ordered a slice of pizza. It was 1,50$. This price was for the basic slice, with tomato sauce and cheese, but I wanted peperonis and peppers. In the extra topings, these were 90 cents and 50 cents. My meal was suppose to cost me about 2,90$ which is a very affordable price. So I got my delicous slice and then, the check. They charged me 5,00$. I went to the guy and asked him why it costed me 5$ instead of 2,90$. His anwser: what you ordered was a all-dressed pizza without (the ingredients that were'nt on my 'all-dressed' pizza). I was shocked. Just wow. I paid and never came back.
As I was writing this I also remmebered that the other day, I was in Italy in a small restaurant. Me and my friend ordered to the waiter two 12$ meal. He came back and asked us if we wanted to eat a special entry. We told him that we would of course take that entry. It was enormous. 5 small fish, vegetables, like tons of vegetable, bread, fruits, like in the movies when the king eats a snack. It was some crazy thing. We didn't even finished it! So when we received the bill. My friend (who is a litlle bit easy to get mad) screamed: AZZHOLE! I looked a the bill: 54$. His special entry was only 30$. We paid, my friend was in great rage and the waiter got 50 cents, the only money we had left, for his 'services'. Yeah that time we were really tourists... But the waiter was a loser. Yeah. A big one.

Going out for breakfast is not the 'in' thing over here and I can't help wondering if the cheese costs that much because they think people will not notice the price as they have only just woken whistle

There are so many things that cost ludicrous amounts that none sticks out more than another. The one that I have to be careful over is extra baggage when flying. One kilo over the limit costs almost as much as the cost of the whole flight w00t I get round it by wearing as many clothes as I can and not putting them in the suitcase hence leaving more room (and weight allowance) for things I buy in UK to bring back here.

arizona does that all the time.
when i moved out there my friends warned me don't ask for cheese. glare
all the fast food joints do it.

on the other hand, they do have 99 cents whoppers daily,so you could bring it home and add the cheese.that's what i did anyway.
