Who is your GOD?   

Who or what is GOD to you? Why do you believe in GOD? What is GOD's meaning?

I may not explain it the way it should be so may I please refer you to the Bible which explains fully Who is God and all. Start reading from the book of John in the New Testament to understand the love of God that is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell. It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell... how measureless and strong. It shall forever more endure, the saints and angels sing.

So, I should just believe what I read in a book that men wrote? I should blindly follow a book? I should believe that I am cursed as a woman, I am the property of and less than a man? I should think that a GOD that speaks of hell damnation, suppression, punishment, and fear is full of love? Can you see why I have a problem with this? It makes no sense to me.

I think you are getting close to it by saying the Sun. If you look into the history of religion you may find that it all started with the worship of the Sun.

I find it interesting that you say GOD is a him. Also that you say everyone should give him high regards. How can you generally define GOD for everyone? I do see people using GOD as a blanket statement without a meaning or what GOD means to them personally. What makes you think He is your Savior and Redeemer? Not asking you to defend GOD, just to tell me what GOD is and why you think it.

I do exist, for those that know me or of me, I don't exist for anyone else. Which should answer your question that GOD does not exist to everyone. There are many religions that believe in many GODS or no GOD. Do their GODS exist for you?

Not every tribe in every nation follows a GOD of some kind. GOD and Christianity has been pushed upon many tribes that knew nothing of the sort. No need to defend your GOD, if the image of a GOD, companion and counselor that exists in your mind comforts you, then good for you. The question still unanswered is Who is your GOD? I find it interesting that you think GOD is a Him.

Firstly, I did not dispute the fact that you exist. I was questioning your supposition that because different people think differently about god, it is reason to believe He doesn't exist. I fully accept that God does not exist for everyone. As I've already stated, man has designed his own god simply because he does not believe God exists.

You say that not every tribe in every nation follows a god of some sort. I don't know on what you base that statement, but history books will reveal that wherever man has encountered new peoples, they have all worshipped something, be it a mountain, an animal, the sun, the wind, a river, a waterfall, or many other things or creatures.

I must question your statement that Christianity has been "pushed" on anyone. While it could be said that the Christian religion has been pushed at various times in history, Christianity is different and depends on a personal relationship which cannot be pushed. I must also add that something that is pushed onto a people will not change them from being headhunters and cannibals into peaceful people. That is because of a change of nature brought about by a personal relationship with a living God.

I believe I have already answered who my God is. I believe in the God who created this universe and all in it. I believe in the God who has revealed Himself in His Word, the Bible. I repeat that my God is not an image that exists in my mind, but a Being who plays an integral role in my life.

Interesting that I believe God is a Him? He has declared Himself and I believe Him.

Tambrerocks, in a few other comments here, you have questioned the Bible and made statements which have no facts. Please allow me to tell of a few things about the Book you say you have read. Firstly, you say you didn't find God there. I find that odd, since the very first words are "In the beginning, GOD"

You say it was written by men with nothing to back it up as fact - again a statement without foundation. I'd like to say a lot on the subject of "written by men" but I rather fancy they would fall on deaf ears. Instead, I'll give you a few facts about the Bible which prove its authority.

Firstly though, you throw doubt on the fact of the life of Jesus Christ. Are you aware that there is more documented proof that Jesus Christ actually lived, died and rose from the dead than there is to substantiate that Julius Caesar lived? Are you aware that even secular writings - writings by enemies of the Christian faith - talk of the fact of Jesus' crucifixion and His resurrection from the dead? There are in existence original letters written between Roman governors which testify to the facts recorded in the Gospels. Now let's consider the Bible and why I take it to be the Word of God.

PROPHECY
The Bible records many hundreds of prophecies concerning Jesus Christ, many people, kings, nations, towns, events, buildings. EVERY prophecy, although written many hundreds of years BEFORE the event, came true in EVERY tiny detail. I repeat EVERY prophecy in EVERY detail. Can you explain how, if there is no God? Can you explain how, if God did not give the words of prophecy to men to record?

ARCHAEOLOGY
There have been many events recorded in the Bible which were disputed and ridiculed by men. A great number of these have been proven to be correct when archaeologists unearthed remains EXACTLY as recorded in the Bible. I'll mention one such event, but there are hundreds. Hezekiah's tunnel (recorded in the Bible about 700BC) was doubted and ridiculed until 1838 when it was uncovered. In 1880 an inscription was found in the tunnel, describing its building, just as recorded in the Bible hundreds of years earlier. Today, tourists walk through that tunnel - the tunnel that was ridiculed as an impossibility for centuries.

SCIENCE
The Bible is not a book of science, but where it touches on scientific things, it is accurate. Once again we find that things only recently discovered by scientists were recorded in the Bible hundreds of years earlier. These include things about thunder, lightning, stars, the wind, the tides, ocean currents, snow, fingerprints, blood, animals, birds - and the list goes on.

These are just a few of the proofs. There are many.

You keep asking "Who is your God?"
I believe I have answered this many times and so have others who have responded.

I'll admit I cannot prove the existence of my God to you, just as you cannot prove the existence of any god or prove that there is no god. God is beyond proof, but to those who know Him personally and experience Him in their lives, no proof is necessary. My God is real.

So what you are saying is your GOD is the one in the Bible that you believe in. That you believe what the Bible says. I have a hard time believing in the Bible and what it says. I feel Christianity is pushed on people. Not sure where you live but where I live it is pushed everyday. So I guess we can agree to disagree on that. No matter what you believe in even if it is not what I believe I admire your passion for it. Thanks for the conversation.

Yes, I have read the book called the Bible. I did not find that there is a GOD in there. It was written by men with nothing to back it up as fact. Not everyone in the world has read the Bible, so if they don't read it or if they believe in something else beside the GOD in the Bible, than does the same GOD exist for them? Since you said GOD died for us and you refer to the Bible, then you think Jesus is GOD? A man name Jesus, written about in the Bible says he died for us. Does it make it true? Why do we follow the Bible without question? Is it fear instilled in us from ages ago? Or was it a tool to get people to obey the so called holy men of that time? Why has the same story been told over and over thousands of years before the Bible which started in astrology with the sun as good and the moon as evil? With 12 houses, the resurrection of the same planets returning to the same place in the sky, the wise men which are 3 stars in a line? Your did not answer the question, Who is your GOD?
