So what are you listening to right now? |
|
always been a big music fan. never really cared for genres, always listened to stuff that sounded good to my ears. i have my preferences but i always keep an ear out for some of the newer stuff that's coming out. that's doesn't mean though that i don't listen to the classics. right now between listening to sting's 'ten summoner's tales' album (absolutely love 'fields of gold and 'it's probably me') and a lot of random mash-ups from metallica vs bryan adams to notorious big vs miley cyrus, i'm trying to broaden my musical tastes. what better way to do that than get what my fellow mylotters are listening to right now.
chime in and it would definitely help if you have a short write up why you like the song/album that you are listening to right now plus a link.
cheers!!!

1. pweety_princess (1725) | 3 weeks ago | I'm exactly like you! I have my preferences, for example I like hip hop and Rnb, but just because I like those kinds of songs, doesn't mean I won't give a chance to other songs! I have quite a few songs on my ipod that aren't only hip hop or Rnb. I mean, Taylor Swift is a country singer, and although I'm not all into country, she makes the songs sound great, so then I like the song! I think you should listen to a new song called tik tok by Kesha, it's number one here all over Australia!

allen0187 (1516) | 3 weeks ago | hi pweety princess!
i do like hip hop and rnb alot! in fact it is my preference among music genres. big fan of cypress hill, wu-tang clan, the roots, and common. listen to a lot of rnb as well but more of the usher and babyface type. not a big fan of the newer rnb acts though. lol! yeah, i like taylor swift and that girl is getting played on this past few months. first was the scene with kanye west during her acceptance speech and the other one was when ellen degeneres palyed a prank on her and scared the bejesus out of her in her bathroom. lol!!! that was good for a few laughs.
will look for that tik tok song that you mentioned. by the way, always planned on visiting australia. have a couple of relatives and friends based in sydney so looking forward to that day.

allen0187 (1516) | 2 weeks ago | tim mcgraw... now, that is one surprising pick you got there ally. i listen to reggae and country as well but not that often as normal listeners would. i do have a chance to listen to country and folk music every time i go on vacation at baguio. most if not all of the radio stations there play country and folk music. i'm not so sure why, perhaps, its because there were a lot of vacationing americans there before but it does offer something different from i normally hear when i'm here in manila.
thanks for joining!
cheers!!!

3. celticeagle (4435) | 3 weeks ago | I love music! All kinds. Love classical and even some old big bands like Benny Goodman and his orchestra. I love the old classic rock bands mostly though like The Doors, The Eagles, and Led Zepplin and AC/DC. In my home town here I listen to a classic rock station (j-105) and they annually do a Rocktober Fest where you win prizes by listening to the album of the day weekly and keep track. The winner this year was AC/DC's Back in Black. It is a great album! I was alittle afraid that they had changed and it wouldn't be as good of music as they had done in the past but I was VERY pleasantly surprised. I was glad they won. And yes, that is who I am listening to tonight. Early listen to The Doors Greatest Hits.

allen0187 (1516) | 2 weeks ago | that's quite a collection you have there celticeagle. i have the greatest hits of the doors as well as that of led zepplin. i only have great and fun memories when i listen to these two bands. i also have the spoken word album of jim morrison. its a great add for a big doors fan such as myself. you can really tell how much of a genius jim morrison is with this album. the guy is a poet and his words are enough to move you to high heavens.
thanks for participating and i do hope we get more chance to listen to such great rock stalwarts such as the doors and led zep!!!

| 5. mareca11 (87) | 3 weeks ago | Right now I am addicted to Korean music. Most Korean music are in the pop genre and they are so bouncy and catchy that you get addicted while listening to them. Also, Korean entertainment is interesting, there are so many things that are happening that do no happen in Western entertainment. Like Koreans are so conservative that when their artists show some skin in the MV they would ban it already. I think their culture makes the Korean Music scene interesting.

allen0187 (1516) | 2 weeks ago | hi mareca11!!!
yeah, korean music is really big nowadays. i hear a lot of korean groups being played in the radio nowadays. i also see a lot of their videos being played at a number of music channels such as channel v and mtv. not a big fan of korean music but i do like 'wondergirls' with their song 'nobody'. i know everyone is listening to them now and there are other and better korean groups out there but common don't you have that great urge to dance the way they do in the video?

| 8. anams177 (5) | 2 weeks ago | Well..right now I'm listening to Nirvana - The man who sold the world ( on Modersn rock Radio ), but there are also a lot of other musical genres that I enjoy listen to, such as soul, funk, reggae, pop, r&b,pop, cassical, electronica etc. I usually like to take/select the best from each music.
| |
| |
|
|
allen0187 (1516) | 2 weeks ago | nirvana is one of the best bands that came out of the seattle scene. they defined grunge and everything that came out after nirvana paled in comparison. i definitely love the band and i think nirvana is one of those bands that come out and set the standard for everything else. too bad kurt cobain had to pass away but he did leave us with lots of great music and really good memories.
i'll definitely listen to my nirvana cds later at home.
cheers!!!

9. offlimits (227) | 2 weeks ago | I love music a lot, and I don't care about the genres too. I have always been an avid fan of music. Rock, punk, pop punk.. you name it. I have also been listening to piano classics, instrumentals, and soundtracks. Japanese and Korean songs are also on my list. I just love all of them! Haha. Anyway, I am listening to Beatles' Anthology Vol. 1 right this moment while answering this discussion:) Take care!
| |
| |
|
|
allen0187 (1516) | 2 weeks ago | that's quite a selextion you listen to offlimits.
piano classics and instrumentals with a tinge of japanese and korean pop plus the usual mix of rock, punk, and pop makes you a happy listener!!!
beatles... always a good choice from across all generations. nto really a big fan of the group though but i do like a couple of their songs.
thanks for joining.
cheers!!!

| 10. Nero11 (31) | 2 weeks ago | At this very minute I'm listening to a CD by an soul/ blues singer called Big Maybelle and the album is called Saga Of The Good Life and Hard Times. The album is exactly as miserable as it sounds. Big Maybelle had many R&B hits in the 50's but this was recorded in the last years of her life. The album dates from the lat 60's and was recently issued on CD by Traffic Entertainment Group. My listening is always this bleak but it was the nearest disc to hand... it's heartbreaking, soulsearching stuff indeed.
| |
| |
|
|
allen0187 (1516) | 7 days ago | first time i heard of big maybelle. sounds like this si a good listen if one is feeling in the dumps and depressed as hell.
i also have my own 'music-to-slit-my-wrist-by'... it's the elvis costello and burt bacharach album. the song is so sad, it takes away any sort or form of happiness in a room in 0.8 seconds (yes, i timed it. lol).
i remember, one time i played it in the office, my colleagues were one in saying that 3 songs into the album all of them were feeling down and sad. can't balme them. the music and words of these two fine musicians tug at your very emotional core and open your eyes to the sad reality of life.
