gym in the evening

evening workout - it's bad idea to workout in the evening?

my female friend gets off to her work at 6pm and hits the gym at 6:30pm her mom advise her that working out in the evening isn't good to do co'z the body is slowing down and getting ready for sleep so going to the gym in the evening is bad idea, however she has no other time to workout, any suggestions? and it's really a bad idea to workout in the evening?

I don't see any reason why she cannot work out in the early evening. I have tried looking it up for you and I cannot find any website to say you shouldn't. Many people do their workout after work, due to not having the time at any other part of the day. It is advisable to eat something after you workout though, but I would make it a light snack or small healthy meal, as you don't want to eat too close to bedtime. A lot of people find exercise in the early evening actually aids sleep. So I say your friend should do whats right for her.

yup, she told me she has nice good sleep after her gym, maybe her mom is to much concern with daughter..

It's not entirely true that going to the gym in the evening is bad for your health. There are a lot of people who go to the gym in the evenings after work and it hasn't caused them anything wrong. For one, my parents who are both in the medical profession go to the gym at 6:00pm. They say that going to the gym that time makes them sleep better at night. I think it depends on the preferences. Though I'd prefer to go to the gym after lunch because if I go with my parents in the evening, I have troubles sleeping since my body and mind is still active after working out. So, it really depends on the preferences. And there's nothing wrong with going to the gym at that hour either.
