What is your favorite scary movie? |
|
Mine is Shutter. Have you seen it? I kind of not like the type of scary movies Americans create. They are more on gory stuff. Unlike Asian scary movies, they create scary scenes through our deepest fears. Those that are possible and downright scary. Like the scene in the elevator in The Eye. Or probably the idea that someone is in your shoulder in the shutter. Remember how Samara crawled out of the TV screen. Gosh that really made me go up the chair. What about you? Do you have scenes that are just so unforgettable that until now it is still in your mind?

1. rehan_andaman (793) | 3 weeks ago | mine is ring. ring 1 was so scary for me.i watched the movie with my friends and got so fear that at that night i didn't slept well and also i wake up few times at that night. grudge and mirror are also so scary.

|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | yeah the first time I say the ring 1, it was definitely so scary especially the part where samara crawled out of the TV. I was so scared that I can't help going up my seat in the movie house. hehehe

| BlankThis (9) | 3 weeks ago | My favorite scary movie would have to be the Blair Witch Project. It was pretty much the first film to introduce the hand held camera filming style. The plot is different from most other scary movies which also helps set it apart. I have to say being in or near forests in the dark still scares me.

AmbiePam (15207) | 3 weeks ago | The Ring didn't scare me, and I was disappointed. I think it was because people had built the movie up to me as being the ultimate scare fest. So I expected more. Don't get me wrong, I thought the film was incredibly creepy.
| |
|
|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | Well probably the reason why I was so scared of The Ring is because I did not have any idea at all. I just knew it was a scary movie but it was the first week of release in the movie house. So not many have seen it yet. There was not much expectations and also, that was the first time I watch an Asian scary movie.
Most of the time I watch American scary movie and my expectation of a scary movie was really not like that. So it was more of a shock.
Probably the reason why you weren't so scared at all because your expectation overcame the fear. I mean you already heard a lot of opinions and you were expecting that it would be a blast. Probably some even have dropped some hints on the scene or something. This actually ruin the surprise. You see, it was the surprise that added the scare.
Well this is just my opinion.=) I just admire how it was conceptualize. How they were able to come up of something that is definitely so creepy that it would scare sh*t out of you..hahha.

| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | I guess I just can't take all the gory part. I wasn't scared, I just couldn't take it. It was more of a suspense rather than being a scary one.

| 3. baconbits52 (63) | 3 weeks ago | the one that is my favorite is jennifer's body. Kind of a cheesy scary movie but i loved it. The scene that remains unforgettable to me is when she seduces the football player and just kills and dismantle him after the make out.

|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | really? is that a new one? I actually haven't heard of it but i guess i can check it out. there are a lot of scary movies, those that are directed in the States, which usually showcases s3x as part of the movie. I actually don't get the connection the need to show these scenes as the movie is a scary one and not a love stoy.=)
I guess that would fall to a gory movie again since you mentioned a scene of having the girl chopped the guy into pieces, right? I just remembered I do want to check out Drag to Hell. A lot of people have said that it was scary as well. I hope no gory part please.

|
|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | yeah...actually the scary part for me in the Exorcist is the part when the girl went down the stair crawling backward like a spider. It was downright scary to imagine seeing something like that in real life. gosh, I would just black out if I do see that especially in my own home.
| |
|
|
sunnycool (354) | 3 weeks ago | i have seen the Exorcist at the age of 11 nd i couldnt sleep for 3 nights man.tat was really freaky.even now i try to watch it when i am alone to my surprise still it freaks me out when the girl goes up nd her acting was really nice.OMG.recently i have seen orphan even tat was nice.

| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | Orphan? hmmm...i should check that out. It just creeps me out on that scene with Exorcist and I really don't have plans to watch it again. I guess it is kind of hard to take out of my head once I see it again. It makes me paranoid.:)

| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | so it's more of a psychological thriller?..well at least the suspense would be an entertainment for me.=)

|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | Evil dead? Is this one of those zombie movies? This is just my opinion but all zombie movies really suck. The effects are great and everything but what I just don't like is the plot of the movie. It is like there is no hope. And I hate that.
Notice that most ending of these zombie movies, usually all of them ends up dead and becomes a zombie. Or sometimes the ending is hanging like not all zombie were dead. There is still that possibility of infection or something. I just really hate this.
It seems like the situation is so dire hopeless. That regardless of all the ways that the main character do to prevent the massive conversion of humans to zombie, everything ends up having all of them including the main character being dead or becoming a zombie as well.
I guess they just want to dwell in the idea that what is scary is the hopelessness of the situation. That nothing would ever be normal again. Maybe that is what's more scary in these type of movie.

6. mrfdg1972 (515) | 3 weeks ago | You know the moment i read SAMARA on your post, i was so scared coz i am all alone here facing the computer.
| |
| |
|
|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | hahaha...probably you are imagining samara crawling out of your monitor right? Hey don't get upset. You should keep on watching that movie so that you could get over with samara.
I actually did that. Before I was so afraid to watch The Ring again. I was mortified on how Samara moves. It is like her bones were breaking apart as she walks toward the camera or something. It was really horrific.
It was only on my third or fourth time watching that movie that I was able to watch Samara without any nightmares or paranoid idea that she might be at my back. heheh

|
mrfdg1972 (515) | 3 weeks ago | You just scared me out again, i have tried to watch that movie so many times and still it puts my hair aloft everytime i watched it. Exorcist was scary to and amityville but nothing can compare to the simplicity of this hooooorifying movie, its like a real life, reality or actually true in the sense there was not much film tricks that i was able to relate to the situation.

7. icecubic (642) | 3 weeks ago | Yeah, i have watched it. But i think i haven't been scared by its movie, just was shocked while the ghost came suddenly. Mostly i love gory movies guys, like saw series, train, and asian gory movies like grotesque and invitation only. I love these.
| |
| |
|
|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | Maybe this is the reason why I didn't pursue a Medical course. I just couldn't take gory stuff such as limbs being torn apart or humans being dissected.
I was definitely so mortified with Saw 1. or that part of Saw where this guy was placed in a cross. Then everything started twisting. First his feet then his hands and lastly his head. It was so gross.
I haven't tried watching Asian gory movies. Probably I won't have plans to watch them since I know it would definitely be more gory.
Another reason that I don't want to watch gory movies is that I could not appreciate the movie well. Since most of the time, I am either hiding in a pillow, or closing my eyes or just turning my back. It would have been better if I had just slept instead of making myself go through all that trauma.:)

8. bwanna (195) | 3 weeks ago | Have you seen the original Exorcist, the one from 1973? Well if you have, do you remember the scene in the kitchen where the devil's face pops up on the fan above the oven for about half a second? The first time I saw that I was so scared, probally due to the fact that I was only 9! It's a great movie, though, and if you have never seen it go rent it from Blockbuster or something because it's one of the best scary movies ever made.
| |
| |
|
|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | not really. I hope I could rent that one. I'll try in my local place if they do have that movie.
So far the only Exorcist I watch was the one with that girl doing the spider thing. I haven't watch any series of Exorcist after that. I think there is Exorcist 5 already.
Was the effects for scary movie that good already in the 1970's? Because for me, what makes a movie scary is how it is able to portray the scary stuff in a way like it is real.
I have this local movie which I watch when I was like 9 or 10 as well. I was so frightened at that time although their effects were not that good. When I watch that movie again today, instead of being scared, I was laughing the whole time. Their ghosts and monsters look so funny. It was hilarious. I just kept on laughing till the end of the movie.

9. hellcowboy (4856) | 3 weeks ago | I thinking watching movies is a good pastime and a good source of fun and enjoyment and it is a good way to pass the time when you are bored or have nothing to do,and me and my wife enjoy watching movies even though we do not get to watch them that often since I work a lot and we are often busy on my days off,and when it comes to scary movies we do not watch them, because I wonder who in their right mind would want to watch a scary movie since all they do is try and scare you,and I do not have a favorite scary movie and I have only watched a handful of them, and never plan on watching that many scary movies and I know my wife agrees with me.

|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | I dunno. I guess I just enjoy the idea of being scared. But of course I want to do this with my friends. It would be more fun if a lot of you would shriek altogether.
I find it really entertaining if the movie is able to frighten me and my friends. Although at the end of it, all of us would get paranoid or probably so frightened that no one would go to the comfort room alone.
We usually laugh at each other's reaction or how we shrieked. Then we would talk about it endlessly. Sometimes we even scare each other by shocking the other one. This is one of our idea of fun.:)

|
|
hellcowboy (4856) | 3 weeks ago | I mean fear is good sometimes, but I do not find scary movies fun,but that is cool that you find fun in being scared with your friends, and I hope you continue to find fun in being scared.

|
| frenzybabe (26) | 3 weeks ago | oh yeah definitely.
I never get tired having fun with scary movies. Although I seldom watch anymore as it is rather draining. I mean all your energy goes to you shrieking and all. Then your heart get so pumped up on scary scenes.
