There have been many good captains for India, so it is a very difficult question and at times given the different eras it is also not correct to compare them. For e.g. Wadekar thought us how to win during his captaincy, Kapil put us on the top of the map during his captaincy, Gavaskar brought stability to the job. But for me I personally rate Ganguly as the best captain till date, because he changed the mentality of the Indian cricket. He thought that you can take on the best and given them a run for their money.
So currently this is my personal choice, but I still think it is unfair to compare captains from different eras.
Cheers!

I actually rate Dhoni as a good captain. But he is just getting started. The current series against Australia show cases that he has still not been successful in making India a ruthless unit. I think that he would need to achieve that to really upscale Ganguly as one of the greatest.
Cheers!

Hello friend, Ganguly is one of the best captain for INDIA. During his captainship, the players are need to obey for his order. He is aggressive captain, but very good gentle man in cricket history.

Thats based on his performance. We can't predict his batting. But his captainship was good.
