Which do you prefer? |
|
Nowadays, many people opt to buy e-books than to buy a 'real' book...
Because of our busy schedules we no longer have the time to seat down and read a good book while having a cup of coffee/tea...
Some people on the other hand, opt to use e-books in order for them to hear the story that they long to read...
For you, which do you prefer? An e-book or the 'real' book(hard copy)?
I look forward to your comments/opinions, guys/gals;)
Happy myLotting!:p

1. 3SnuggleBunnies (3370) | 1 month ago | I've never read an e-book. I dunno that's one thing I don't agree with. I understand the convience, as we have many conviences with our electronic gadgets and the internet. However, my hubby is in the print industry and that only hurts them as well as other related industries.
And one thought though.... how are you going to read that book if your gadget dies? no batteries? It's another way for us to have more "screen time" and dependance on gadgets and putting another simple pleasure into something technology is going to put at the wayside.

2. learn2earn (10617) | 1 month ago | If the hard copy is available in our bookstores and I can afford the price, then a hard copy would be preferable for me. If the book is expensive but available for free download as an e-book, then I surely would opt for it. I have downloaded and printed some of the good books that are free to download. I also have some hard copy of the good books available.

cmnavarro (130) | 1 month ago | wow... you're techie... hehe can you please pm me the info on where to download these e-books? hehe yes, some books, especially the hard copies costs more than a dime... that's why some individuals choose to download e-books/audiobooks instead:)

| giegrace (76) | 4 weeks ago | I agree with you. There are times when I really want to read the book, yet I can't afford the hard copy of it. So, I just search the net if there are an e-book version of it.

3. neildc (3505) | 1 month ago | If I really have to choose, I will prefer an e-book. Hardcopies are much heavier and bulky than e-book. If books are in a Compact Disc, it is not a single book that you can held in it. We can have a library or a complete set of encyclopedia or the atlas.

4. Ravenladyj (17934) | 1 month ago | I personally dont care for ebooks though I do have some BUT the ones I do have I've printed off and put into a folder so I can read them in comfort wherever rather than having to sit at my desk and read it off the computer...Same with audio books...I dont care for those either..

cmnavarro (130) | 1 month ago | yep... i understand how you feel about e-books/audio books... if i were to choose, i would choose hard copies, i have problems listening to audio books.. i can't seem to follow the story hehe:p and it's boring... reading a book, can actually help you practice your eye movement, comprehension and if you do read aloud--it will help you loosen your tongue; especially if English is not your 'native tongue'

6. photobug (129) | 1 month ago | I use a computer for emailing, searching for information, and writing my blog and squidoo web pages, but I don't want to read for pleasure on a computer screen. I love reading a book (usually paperback)and sitting in a lawn chair, or stretched out on my bed or couch. I read every day and have boxes of books to choose from. I go to thrift shops and buy older books for a cheap price. Once in a while I will go to a book store and buy newly published books from current authors. I especially like mysteries and not too many mysteries end up in thrift shops.
I also sell books online, so after I read my books I sell them if it seems like I can make a little money. www.squidoo.com/sellbooksonline . If not, I donate them back to the thrift shop.
The second reason I like regular books over using a computer is to reduce eye strain. Using a computer all day is not healthy for our eyes. Even though reading a book for a long time can also cause eye strain, it doesn't seem to bother me.
I'm not against e-books. Often, that's the only way you can find a copy of a certain title or be able to afford it. But it's not for me.

10. dekada80 (369) | 1 month ago | Oh definitely I prefer the hardcopy, although there are cons compare to ebooks, I still prefer holding what am I reading. Although you can have your favorite book or magazine without living your home or seat via the internet download, I still want a hardcopy of those reading materials. I sometimes I still print some ebooks I receive or downloaded in the internet since I really want it hardcopy.
