What do you think of Algebra.  |

 This has always been like abstract subject to me.
I know it's branch of math, but the math I know is arithmetic and the higher ones are trigonometry and statistics. These are the maths that are clear to me. Because it has certain answers.
But Algebra, those symbols that meant nothing. Those factoring, like you are doing magic. I am always lost. Until now, I don't know and I even hate that somebody has discovered them and teach them in school, because I just can't understand it.
How about you? Can you pass your Algebra subjects, or other maths based on Algebra? Like calculus and all those other "weird" maths.

I never had a perfect score in algebra. I like to learn it but algebra seems not to like me. Now, I believe that we don't need to study those things because it doesn't apply to real life when we are working. It is enough to know the basic mathematical expressions. That is how I assess mathematics in general. What do you think?

Those basic word problems like find the age of someone if his age is nth times greater or lesser than the other person's age in the nth years. I always fail to translate into formulas. But then when the other person solve them and they get the solution, wow, it makes sense. But then I can't do it on my own.

But sometimes I wonder what could be the secret. Are their minds sharper that they can solve Algebra? I thought that my teachers were just incompetent, lol. Now maybe they just find it hard to teach it too! | |
