It is not a sin to be married with a woman twelve years older than you. Therefore, as long as they love each other and they are willing to make their marriage work out, then there will not be much of a problem regarding their age gap. There are many others where the other partner is older and the partner is younger. Some are doing well, some are not. Whatever it is, its all up to them. Let us not condemn those who are with this kind of relationship.

I don't think there's anything wrong with an age difference though.

I've got nothing against age unless it's ridiculous, and by this i mean something like a 14 year old girl being in love with a 55 year old man sort of thing. But once you come of age 16-18+ i think you have your own right to choose who you love and who you want to date, as well as who you wish to marry.

Your friend obviously loves this women, and she obviously feels the same way, so the fact she's older and she has a son shouldn't matter, as long as HE can accept that too.

Personally I think 12 years is too much of an age difference. Its 2 different generations basically and people are at 2 different stages in their lives. Just look at what you just said, she has a son, and he has never been married yet alone raise a child. I don't think the 16 year old would feel right at all with it either. It's kind of like if I married someone 12 years older than me, most likely their child would only be 7-8 years younger than me so its more like a sibling than a child. I just don't see it working and the best thing to do is voice your opinion and give rational to it but either way they are going to do whatever they want to do.

If she has a 16 yr old son I presume she would be at least 32 years old which would make him 20 years old. No offence to men, but men as a general rule mature later than a woman and I think a 20 year old man is generally too young to marry anyone. (but of course there are exceptions: some men are mature enough even younger)

I have no objection to a man marrying a woman 12 years older. In fact, I personally know of some very happy marriages with similar situations and one where the woman is almost 20 years older (but they were older when married)

If the man was in his late twenties OR very mature for his age, I would wish them well. I would also suggest that the older the couple, the less difference the age makes.

I think ashton kutcher and demi moore are 15 years apart :) They're still going strong considering hollywood couples don't really last... So anyway it might be 'love'...:)

In my opinion, it doesn't matter that a wife is twelve years older than a husband.

You see, in my country, it is common that some girls get married with men who are ten years older than them. Sometimes, I feel surprised too because these couples may have gaps in the understanding of something. But I guess it is love that let them get married. If one really loves another, age is not the key and I can accept this action.

Of course, in order to keep a steady and long relationship, they will have to make great efforts than others.

If a man can marry a woman who is many years younger than him then I don't think women can't do the same. Its maybe a little awkward since it is often the case that guys are older than their wives or partner. I think the reason is biological, men would prefer younger women not only because younger women are more attractive but he can also be the master in the house. Another reason I can think of is that, men love their mothers, of course there are exception, but you can't just marry someone who is of the same age as your mother. But I don't see anything wrong with it. Cheers!
