|  I live in a small town in Texas, and as I watched the events unfold last Thursday, I also saw Texas' Governor announce that all flags in the state of Texas would be flown at half-staff through Sunday. I immediately went out and lowered the flags at my Dad's to half. Later that day I went in to the nearest 'big' town and could not believe how many flags were not lowered in respect to those who had lost their lives that day! I did stop at several places and went in and asked who was in charge of the flag and told them it should be at half-staff order of the Governor. All the banks and larger businesses had already done so. However, a few of those that I stopped and told were a U.S. office, a post office and a public school!! I was told twice that they had not received that memo!!! Do you have to receive a memo to be American and show your respect?! Did anyone else witness this kind of disrespect?

| |  It is good to show respect by flying the flag at 1/2 staff but you know what, with all of the political correctness stuff I have heard lately I a glad that people are flying flags.
WE have been to PC in this country and it is time we stood up. I am beginning to think that we should be flying the flag upside down until we become proud to be Americans and if people don't like it...they can leave!

| |  I saw a few flags not at half staff, but mostly because they belong to those places that probably only do anything with the flag when some one tells them they need to replace them...

| |  Chill out... Did you honestly stop to tell them to put their flags down? I guess you weren't very busy. Honestly, I would not have guessed to put the flags down unless I had gotten the memo, so yes, it should take a memo.

| | Yes, I was busy, but it only took a minute or two to stop and bring it to their attention. I pay attention to flag protocol, I also show my respect for our military, since my son-in-law is currently serving this great country, and my father and other family members have also served. I don't need a memo to tell me to show respect, nor do I need a memo to tell me that a battered flag should be taken down and replaced and disposed of properly.

| |  I do understand you palonghorn, but sometimes, the days just pass by so quickly sometimes there are noone who are responsible for taking these actions thus they will be forgotten, as for your example. The schools will should have this done as they should set a good example for the youngsters. Maybe someone should take action ?
