Tick...tick...tick.
Right about now John Allen Muhammad, better known as the D.C. or the Beltway Sniper is strapped onto the gurney and receiving the lethal injections that will end his miserable life. For 2 months in 2002 Muhammad and his accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, kept the people who lived and worked in the greater metro area of Maryland, D.C. and Virginia in a state of terror as they randomly gunned down innocent people. They shot 16...killing 10. No one ever saw a thing other than the victims falling to the ground.
Was this killing spree religiously motivated? Did it have anything at all to do with any ideology? Was it politically motivated? No. This man planned to kill his exwife and wanted to use the murders to cover up his ugly plot. He also wanted money and demanded a $10 million dollar ransom.
Tonight this man pays for his crimes. Sometimes a terrorist is nothing more than a murderer. Thank you Virginia.

hi spalladino yes sometimes a terrorist is really nothing but a murderer.I am
glad that he is now at least paying for his crimes.not that that helps much'
but I can imagine some closure for the families of the people he murdered.
the world is surely better off without him.even if it had been religiously motivated that to me would not excuse any of what he did any way. It is only
too bad they could not have caught him after the first murder and spared a'few lives at least.

I wish they could have caught him sooner, too. As it was they were looking for a white van and my husband happened to have white company vans at the time so he and his crews were stopped a lot before the police finally started putting stickers on the ones who had already been checked. If he hadn't gotten greedy and sent a ransom note with prints on it he may have never been caught.

I remember those murders, the very real terror that infected people while they were happening. That they were tied into someone killing his ex makes it even worse--he was aggravating fear towards a religious group that already terrified people.
I remember the Sikh that was killed in Arizona while I lived there. I was horrified that someone would blindly murder someone who wore a turban.
That man deserves what he got.

I lived up there when this was happening...lived close to where one of the killings occured and worked just off the Beltway...and I can tell you that being a possible target was stressful. Someone at the college coined the phrase "Sniper Shuffle" for the little bob & weave dance it was recommended that you do when filling your tank at a gas station. People were advised to wait for the bus behind some kind of cover.

A crime, murder, etc. is simply what it is. We often put different terms to go along with it to make it have that effect we want. Terrorist, hate crime, or murder.
Regardless, good riddance to trash.

One more terrorist down, and one less we have to worry about. I hope he burns in HELL with the rest of them...

Finally, the sorrow of the American people ends when a heartless murderer gets his fair punishments. How miserable,an inhumane person who has done so much vices. He is no different from an animal, a beast. Finally justice arrives. No one knows his motives but no one cares. And he has to die.

I wish to understand palladino, you state"sometimes a terrorst is nothing more than a murderer.
To my way of thinking, all terrorists are nothing more than murderers, they kill anyone that is handy or kidnap people for verious reasons, then, more than anything, would normally kill them anyway.
All terrorist, for any reason, when captured, should be shot on site.
great debate,thanks.

You are right, mac, terrorists are nothing more than murders. My point was that, in this case, there was no underlying religious or political reason for these murders. This man killed for no other reason then his hatred for his exwife.

I feel no sympathy for Muhammad whatsoever but I have a question. Is killing someone the way to teach them and others that killing people is bad??

He kill innocent people and terrorize those area for 2 months just so he could coverup the planning of killing his exwife. I feel sad for the families of the victims as they watch their family and friends drop next to them. He did get what he deserved.
