How to manage in laws(esp mother in law) after marriage?

Mother in laws are a big head ache still.They will think as if they are everything to their son. and we are not doing anything for them.Always they willblame for doing this and that.How to manage mother in law easily after marriage right from the starting?

LOL, I thought bad mother in laws only happened in the movies :D Maybe I've just been lucky :)
