It won't be long and we will see the Salvation Army Kettles will be around and the belles will be ringing! I do! Most of the time when I come out of a store I put my change in the kettle. Sometimes a dollar or two. I rarely don't put money in the kettle! There are people who need it more then me! How about you?

I definately donate to the salvation army. My husband was in the Army. I always give them my extra change. I know that the money is going to a great cause. I am looking into trying to get a seasonal job with them. I know money is tight with me, but I will still be giving. I always give at Christmas. I also give to the toys for tots charity, the shop with a cop (it is an organization here in Idaho that allows under priviledge children to go shopping for Christmas presents for their family) and I also donate to the angel tree.

I like the shop with a cop organization. I think it is great that these police officers take time out of their busy schedule to help these children buy gifts. I love watching children shop. I went to Wal-mart earlier today and there was a little girl in front of us who bought her mommy a necklace for Christmas. Her dad did not give her enough money and she started crying. She was 10 cents short and luckily I had a dime and was able to give it to her. (It meant I could not buy a candy bar, but I figured I did not need it). She was grateful.

Hi bluepacker, we don't have the salvation army here, in fact we don't have organisations of any kind asking for money on the streets. There are some gypsies which turn up in town begging on the streets usually around xmas time but they are not encourged. It's a completely different culture here and still community and family based so people don't fall through the loopholes and end up on the streets. Long may it continue that way.
