Have you ever been wandering around in the posted discussions and read something that just floored you or made you want to ask.."what are you thinking"? But then thought again and decided it was a bad idea because it would cause a verbal riot?

I avoid very heated topics like the plague. They go round and round and nothing changes. You have your view and they have theirs. I rather respond to posts where there is a chance I can help or I have the answer they were looking for . Or a post where I can add something to.

Agreed. I tend to do the same..There was something that I didn't respond to that prompted this question. I had this great answer that I let go because I thought about what kind of response it could invoke. I would rather leave where I have been a little better and on a positive note. But I sure do waste alot of great one-liners..lol

Remember rookie, My Lot prefers first responses to be longer than one line.

Hi Jewels49, often times, I will read a discussion and I think about how I want to respond and then I will do exactly what you wrote, chicken out. But then a lot of times I will go back to the discussion and write a response maybe not as inflammatory but still get a point across. I don't like all the crazy name calling or how quickly a discussion can deteriorate so I try to avoid the ones that are sure to incite those but I do like to read the points of view that come across and am usually amazed by how neither "side" is willing to acknowledge valid points, if there are any and blindly stick to their convictions.

I absolutely agree. I enjoy responding to the discussions that I will have fun in or feel I make a contribution to. I have met some wonderful people and hope to continue to do so. I am taking your friend's advice and laughed at the "rookie" comment, very true and appropriate.

I don't like the angry stuff either, it's no fun and I like to have fun. My problem is sometimes I think I'm funny but it comes across as sarcastic. My friend Sarah gives good advice to us rookies and I do my best to follow her lead on staying away from controversy. I won't do name calling and I won't thump on a bible to make my point, so I tend to wander until something catches my interest. It's working though I'm having a pretty good time and meeting some really good people.

many many times. i just try not to say anything and find another. btw, friend this was the only discussion i could reply or respond to since every other one you have is about hokey. do you have any more interests? i know nothing about hokey but try to respond to everyones discussions that respond to mine.

I'm sorry, I don't start alot of discussions and you're right I am a little Hockey obsessed. I have alot more interests and I respond all over the place I just am the most comfortable it seems starting them in Hockey, maybe because I know I'm going to get at least 3 responses. I'll try to come up with something original I promise.

Hi Jewels, I tend to type at the same speed as I think so I've usually pressed enter before I have chance to think what was I thinking. Somethings just make me comment and probably if I don't comment its because I've flicked over to start a discussion about it.

I know what you are saying thea..sometimes you read something and there is just nothing constructive you can do with it. I saw one the other day that said something about the world is ending in 2012..should I give up my virginity. My first thought was..hell yeah the world is ending, is human sacrifice on your resume? Then when I said it in my head it sounded so flip and mean, I couldn't do it. And you're right I did flip here and start a discussion about it.

I too get the urge to open up but then as you said it could flare up a situation is not really necessary here. If I definitely know that something nice or witty will be the result of my reaction I will take that risk but not otherwise.

That's the way I am going to go too..I would never want to hurt someones feelings by not thinking before I spoke.
