Do you agree with Mike Atherton's views on Sachin?  

Mike Atherton, I know the name, English cricket player if I remember right.
I dont know anything about cricket, but every where I go on the internet every one reckons this guy Sachin is best
Well they cant all be wrong can they so I think Atherton might be wrong and Sachin might be best
I remember Beefy Botham, he was good.

See I am not a fan of comparing players from different eras. Because each era has it's own challenges and the heroes of that era are people who faced those challenges. For e.g. can you think of Tipu Sultan taking on a commando today and winning? Such comparisons are ridiculous.

For me you have to be the champion in the era that you played in and Sachin has been a champion for the past two decades. Simple. End of all discussions. No need to compare him with Bodyline era champions..

As far as I know sachin is really a great player indeed.Some of his shots can never be replecated.Everyone complains him of not playing good in the finals.There is no point saying is not a great guy bcoz he wears guards.He should have been a bit more careful while passing comments against sachin who is even considered as a God in India.

yes i agree with the Mike Atherten because there is no body in the world to be used the greatest word .

Let us first agree that Artherton has been involved in the game more than any of us discussing this here. So lets give due respect to his opinion. And As Ram has said in his post it is foolish to compare greats of different era. WHich in a way supports Artherton's call that sachin is not the greatest. Mind it that even Artherton has not said who the greatest was. Even he knows that its impossible to say who is better than the other.

I would say Sachin is a great Cricketer. One of the greatest Batsmen. But not the greatest. Every batsman has his strength and weakness. Sachin has more strengths than weaknesses.Therefore he has been more successful. And the biggest strength about sachin is that he knows his limitations and tries his best to either adjust according to it or overcome it. This is the most important aspect of his personality that makes him a great and where A person with immense talent like Ganguly failed. Even Dravid has this trait and thats what has helped him to become a great.

To sign off I would say Lets respect him for being Sachin Tendulkar, the Phenomena and not compare himwith other greats.

I dont agree with what mike atherton said. Sachin the master blaster. He is greatest of all the cricketers in this world. No one should say anything about him and no one can compare him with others.

I think he is right..
"Records are meant to be broken"- So no one is 'The Great' in any field.. So every one are only 'one of the great' in their field.. I dont Know the motive behind his saying so.. Just my opinion.that is all

Sachin is greatest player of every type of cricket. It is just ridiculous to compare him with old player. Today their is more than 30 camera angle to view how a batsman playing. Who can lift the weight of 100,00,00,000 people no one except Sachin. no one knows what technique used by Bradman to play Cricket. But everyone knows technique of Sachin. All in all a worst statement made by a former worst captain of England.
