I was injured Thursday. I tore my knee tendon and wound up in the ER. Now, I sit on the couch, brace on knee, bumm getting sore... bored of C-Span discussing heatlh care. I am so bored! Anyone have any ideas to 1. stay un-bored, 2. keep me bumm from going numb?
also, doesn anyone know what treatments are available for a ripped tendon? I have an appointment after Thanksgiving with an Ortho and just want to know what I'm in for!
thanks.

I don't know much about that ripped tendon, but I think it's best to eat soups and stick to hot drinks for now. Avoid vegetables which are going to make your legs more swollen.
For those boredom periods, keep mylotting. It's fun. And then, if you can blog, blog away. If not, write articles, or play online games. Facebooking is also another good option. Or you can read Twitter updates and do yours too.
Or else, just surf the internet for poems and stuff like that. I do that most of the time.

Ow that sounds painful. Un-bored can be tricky. Maybe a favorite movie marathon? As for the sore bum..maybe a doughnut pillow. You know, the kind they sell for hemorrhoids. Pregnant ladies swear they work. Takes the pressure off of the area I think.

I don't know why but I just imagine someone in your situation making popcorn and learning to throw it and catch it in their mouths while on the couch all day. Probably not the best idea, but it's their in my head. As someone before mentioned, logic puzzles may be good to keep the mind active. Otherwise, maybe lots of Guitar Hero?

I'm sorry to hear about your injury. Hopefully you won't need surgery. I find movies and video games to be good for passing time. Watching TV can get a little old. Maybe some of your friends can come over and keep you company as well. Good luck at your appointment!

I have had a few friends come over. It was nice. I felt awful that things weren't in place however. I'm with you! Hoping to not have surgery, but I will at this point to get better! I've watched a lot of people running and dancing on TV and I want that back in my life. I definately can't handle being bedbound! Going to get active as soon as I can after this and stay that way! Want to be upright in my later years!

How about puzzles, or logic puzzles? You can finish some scenic puzzles, and when all better glue them and hang them as a wall as your momento for getting through this injury. And logic puzzles are fun and exercise your brain.
Definitely mylot, to get you social.
And watch full tv series and get caught up on that on hulu or netflix or something.
What caused your injury?

What is your treatment plan? Are you missing work because of this? I am sorry to hear of your bad news ....

Hey LadyBug!
I don't have a treatment plan yet. I am supposed to go to the Ortho tomorrow. The ER aid wear the brace, stay quiet, don't use it too much. So here I sit!
No, not missing work. I am a mobile office. I did hobble around a bit today. Sure makes me tired. Kinda weird. I can run run run all day and not be tired, yet putting a few dishes from the table to sink is exhausing!
Today showed me HOW boring TV is!! Oh my. All these channels and nothing to watch! My favorite was the Jonas Brothers show. That's cute!
Thanks for checking in on me!

I have a closet crush on one of the jonas's. I watch it alone, and I am in my thirties. Ain't no shame.
Maybe two of the jonas's.
I can't spell Jonas's, but I mean the plural.
I get sucked in to infomercials. It could be the terrible overacting, but I can never turn away. I watched back to back episodes of "Bones" on Saturday. One week straight, I watched five years worth of House.
Tv is definitely boring, and distracting. But I love it.
Maybe try hulu or snagfilms to get some really education documentaries. Those are great!

bearballew if you have just a partial tendon tear you will get a lot of physiotherapy with sound machine and hot water bath and some exercises just made for healing tendon tears and a sort of sound treatment on the injured part that helps heal it. I had about three weeks of treatments for the tendon tears in both my legs. but none were painful and some were actually fun.the hot water treatment felt sooo good I could have sat there a lot longer too. the sound wave treatment was really interesting and anyway at the end of the treatments i was fine, could walk without pain and worked a full day.no problems.

Wow..ripped tendons are nasty. All you can really do is relax and let it heal. I have heard they are sometimes worse than a broken bone. I would suggest a gaming site that has board type games that you can play with others. Maybe an awesome book too. As for the tooty getting numb, I guess all you can do about that is just roll around some and rub it. I hate to hear you are down and out..that stinks. Take care and try Pogo for the games.

It is quite difficult to keep yourself entertained when you are down with an injury. It was about five years ago that I herniated a disc in my back at work and I was down for about six months. Luckily, after a couple of weeks I was able to get up and move a little bit, but it took a while to really feel like doing anything.
Some of the things that you can do to pass the time is use the computer. Logic or word puzzles are fun for a while. Do you do any crafts? If so, this is the perfect time for it. Or even to learn a new craft.
I don't have any experience with a torn tendon, so I don't know what you can expect with your treatment plan. Best of luck to you.
