Do colors affect your mood?  email this discussion to a friend?

I've noticed that they affect mine. For example, I was saying in another post, Wendy Williams' stage set, is very bright and it causes a kind of happiness, but there are some shows that have such a depressing color background/tint to it. It's not just television shows, but other things (like advertisements on billboards, etc). Do they affect YOUR mood? Name examples if they do.

hi,xmykittyheartx!
your question is interesting.I think sometimes some hues affect my mood in some degree.for example, blue, which I don't like, really makes me a little blue!by contrast,I cheer up when I see red, pink and green.besides,it is said that yellow can calms people down and brings them back to sense.and I find it seems it's true.
but as for other hues, like white, black, gray and so on,i don't feel they have any influence on my mood.

have a nice day!

Yeah, that's true what they say about yellow. They also say red is the first color a person sees.

Colors most definitely affect mood. There have been many studies on the subject. I also think mood affects how you see and/or tolerate a particular color. I think that soft blues and greens have a calming affect on me. It also depends on what the color is on - clothing, walls, cars, etc.......

About depending what the color is on. You know, I've been told red cars are more likely to be in wrecks (don't know how true it is), but if it's true, do you think it's because of what they say: the human eye sees red first?

I don’t know about you, but there seems to be more and more evidence that color does in fact affect us. Color can have healing properties. Color is also associated with the chakras in Hinduism. Each energy center of the body is represented by a different color. Most people are skeptical about color and healing properties. However, the medical profession makes use of color in certain treatments. Premature babies with jaundice are cured by a chemical reaction triggered by exposure to blue light for several days. Scientists who have studied color and light extensively, have recognized that colors bring about emotional reactions. It is thought that our attraction to certain colors may signal areas where we are imbalanced. Not convinced yet? Just check out your wardrobe to see how affected you are by certain colors. Most of us have a comfy pair of faded jeans when we want to feel relaxed. Wearing a black suit or dress can help you to blend in to your surroundings. Or it can be worn for a statement of rebellion, such as in the goth style. Whatever the reason, color does effect us whether we realize it or not..........

I have heard about Chakras, but haven't taken the time to really learn about it. I think I might educate myself on it. It sounds really interesting. Also, I wonder if it is the yellow in the light for people with S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder). I've read that people who get depressed during winter tend to feel better if lights are on, instead of turned off or if it's just because of the shining brightness.
